NFL 5 Hook New England/Pittsburgh Over 41.5 The Patriots will be looking to avoid going under the 500 mark in Pittsburgh this weekend. Their defense is not as strong as last year and will have trouble keeping the Steelers out of the endzone. Tom Brady will be ready to bounce back and will have to look deep because the Steelers defense is too strong to allow a long sustained drive. Both offenses will find some success but the key to the play on the over is that I think there will be at least 2 defensive/special teams touchdowns in this game. Both offenses will get the game in the 40's and then add the extra touchdowns and you have an over to play on.
NFL 5 Hook New England 23 - Pittsburgh 20 The Patriots and the Steelers looked like they were in a track meet in the first few minutes but then the wheels fell off. To be honest, we were a bit lucky to win this game BUT since we were back doored more than our share last week, we will take the win and run with the money. New England just seems to find a way to win every time they play except for last week. Big Ben looked like gentle Ben as he continues to guide the ball instead of letting it rip. In his defense, he is young and damn I wish I had his won loss record.
NFL 4 Hook Kansas City +3 @ Denver The Chiefs travel to Mile High to take on the Broncos on Monday Night. This rivalry continues as these two teams bump heads for the first time this season. When these two teams collide, it usually ends up being a great game. Doesn’t matter what the records are or where they are playing, this rivalry is a great one. K.C. is coming off a Sunday night victory over their other rival, the Raiders. The Broncos squeaked out a victory over the Chargers with a last second field goal. Right now, the Chiefs are the better team. Their offense is clicking like it usually is and they actually have a solid defense this year. The Broncos are just struggling a little bit right now. Yes they won last week but the week before the Dolphins destroyed them. Tough defenses usually give Plummer the shakes and he struggles mightily against them. Look for the Chiefs to pressure Plummer and make him get out of his comfort zone early. Take the Chiefs with the points in this one.
NFL 4 Hook Denver 30 Kansas City 10 Did the Chiefs have no desire to win that game? They looked horrible the entire game. This new defense couldn’t catch a cold in the middle of winter and Trent Green looked even worse. I know Denver played well but they looked like Super Bowl Champs against the Chiefs. This wasn’t a fun game to watch. Made me sick to my stomach just like last week’s Monday night game.
NFL 4 Hook Tampa Bay @Green Bay +4 The 2-0 Bucs travel to the winless Green Bay Packers. The Packers are looking for their first win of the season. The Bucs have been a surprise this year beating the Vikings in Minnesota and then beating the Bills at home last weekend. The Packers on the other hand have lost to the Lions and then lost to the Browns at home on Sunday. The Packers are struggling big time but know that even if with two losses they aren’t out of it. A third straight loss, especially with 2 of them coming at home will dampen their spirits tremendously. They are 4 point underdogs at home which you usually don’t see in Green Bay. Green Bay will find a way to cover the spread this week if not win it outright. Favre won’t let this team lose 3 in a row, especially against the Bucs. Take the Packers with the points. They will play their heart out and cover.
NFL 4 Hook Tampa Bay 17 Green Bay 16 It’s hard to believe that a Brett Favre team is 0-3 to start the year. It’s a little hard to believe that Tampa Bay is now 3-0. Green Bay tried to win their first game but again too many mistakes cost them a shot at victory again this week. They did at least cover the spread.
NFL 4 Hook Oakland @ Philadelphia -7.5 The Eagles are out of their funk they displayed in Atlanta. This is a team I said I would watch to be on and here is the second chance that I have liked to jump on the Eagles. McNabb and Company will score plenty of points to cover the spread. The Raiders look good one drive then make mistakes on other drives. Collins will turn the ball over several times and the Eagles defense will score once if not twice this weekend. Primetime match-up with Moss and Owens with Owens having the better supporting cast. Eagles big at home this weekend.
NFL 4 Hook Philadelphia 23 - Oakland 20 I really thought that after last week that the Eagles were ready to run off several big wins. Boy was I wrong on that assumption. The Eagles should have destroyed the Raiders but instead the Raiders looked pretty good. Looking pretty good but at 0-3 the Raiders are in trouble.
NFL 4 Hook Arizona @ The Cardinals of Arizona travel up to Seattle this week to take on their division rival Seahawks. The Cards come into town looking for their first victory of the year. Seattle played a near perfect first half last week against the Falcons as they shut them down 21-0. The second half was a different story as they pulled out a 21-18 victory. The Cards on the other hand are just struggling. They were hammered opening weekend and then last week let a victory slip out of their grasp against the Rams. The Seahawks are the better team here. The Cards are still struggling to find their groove. They will need at least another few weeks to find it. This will be a struggle again this week against Seattle. Seattle will try to forget their second half collapse from last week. Seattle will get out of their funk and keep the Cards winless. Take Seattle in this one. They will find their groove and Arizona will be the victim.
NFL 4 Hook Seattle 37 Arizona 12 A slow start for the Seahawks in the beginning but they picked it up as the game went on. Alexander rushed for 4 touchdowns, which made a close game, turn into a blowout.
NFL 3 Hook Philadelphia/Oakland OVER 46 The Eagles look to continue their winning ways against the winless Raiders this week. The Raiders are out to prove they can play with the big boys. The Eagles come into town after their 42-3 shellacking of the team across the bay. The Raiders lost a heart breaker to the Chiefs last week 23-17. Both teams have high-octane offenses and rather solid defenses. If this game were last year, there would be no way this would come close to an OVER. This year on the other hand is different. The Eagles have the same crew from last year and you know they can score. The Raiders added a deep threat in Moss, and a solid running back in Jordan. Collins loves to throw the deep ball, which will keep the Eagles on their toes. This is a match up between Owens and Moss. Both are out to prove they are the best WR’s in the game. Who will win the battle? Who knows? But we will know this, McNabb and Collins will be throwing the ball non stop to these two which will lead to some exciting plays and plenty of points. Take the OVER in this game. There will be an explosion of points on the field in this game.
NFL 3 Hook Philadelphia 23 Oakland 20 This was an UNDER game the whole way and unfortunately we had the OVER. There was a small chance at the end this was going to maybe get a tie. With Ackers injured, we all thought they would go for it when they got the ball on the 6. They should have at least taken a shot or two into the end zone and make Ackers kick the ball as a last resort. Now Ackers is a hero in Phili, but not in our pocket books!
NFL 3 Hook Tennessee/St. Louis OVER 45.5 The Titans coming off their big victory over Baltimore travel to St. Louis to take on the Rams. This is the home opener for the Rams and they want to impress the fans. The Rams have looked nothing like the Rams of old the last few weeks losing to the 49ers 28-25 and squeaking by the Cards 17-12. Their offense is having trouble putting points on the board. Actually let’s rephrase that: They are having trouble finishing drives. Both games this team should have scored in the 30’s. This offense is capable of that. The Titans are the same way. When they played the Steelers in week one, they moved the ball great but couldn’t finish drives. I think both teams will be able to finish drives in this game. Both defenses are not the strongest and their offenses’ should be able to move the ball easily. The Titans put up 25 points on a top defense in the Ravens last week so just imagine how many points they could put up against the Rams. The Rams will be back home playing on their turf which makes them that much more explosive. This game should be a highflying game with both teams finishing drives with TD’s. Take the OVER in this one. Both teams should be able to move the ball at will.
NFL 3 Hook St. Louis 31 Tennessee 27 This was the easiest OVER of the whole weekend. Both these teams had trouble stopping each other’s offense. And even the defenses got into the game and scored some points. One of those rare games where turnovers actually help the OVER instead of hindering it.
NFL 3 Hook N.Y. Giants @San Diego -5.5 The Giants travel to warm San Diego to take on the Chargers. This is a game San Diego fans have been waiting for. It’s been about a year and a half since Eli Manning refused to play for the Chargers. Manning was then traded to the Giants for Philip Rivers. Rivers basically hasn’t seen the field and Manning is trying to get the Giants going. San Diego has been waiting for this match-up. San Diego, which starts the season 0-2, will take out their frustrations on Manning and the Giants. Look for the Chargers to play tough blitzing defense and have a high powered offense as well. Brees will make everyone forget about Manning and the crap he pulled on draft day. Take the Chargers in this one. They will win this game by a touchdown.
NFL 3 Hook San Diego 45 NY Giants 23 I wasn’t sure but did the Chargers fans boo Eli Manning? A game of spurts in the first half by both teams but the Chargers played a much stronger game in the second half and came away with a big victory. How good is LT?
