Super Bowl
This game will have plenty of momentum swings with each big play turning the tide back and forth. We would not be surprised to see a defensive and/or a special team touchdown during the game. Both defenses are strong and will attack the offenses. There will be plays made and opportunities for both sides to explode at any time. Take the over and enjoy the show. New England and Philadelphia will score more than enough points to get the total to pay on the over. Only once has New England been held under 20 points all year and that was way back on October 24th against the Jets. New England has the capability to shut down offenses that are one dimensional and/or too stubborn to mix things up. Philadelphia is not afraid to mix things up. The Eagles look one dimensional in the fact that they do pass over 60% of the time but they will run Westbrook and set screens up for him. The Colts were not able to exploit the weak secondary of New England because they were afraid to air out the ball and decided to play the game close to the vest. The Eagles will not play close to the vest and we know McNabb will buy some time and air out the ball. The Eagles have been a big play offense all year and with the ability of McNabb to buy time the big play should happen at least 5 times for them in this game. Brady will also be able to come up with a few big plays because of his vision and quick decisions. Brady is a very accurate quarterback who can make fast reads and beat the gambling defense of Philadelphia. Some people will point out the fact that the Patriots will be able to grind it out behind the running game of Dillon but we think that the running game will be hit or miss. Dillon will get his yards in huge chunks but will also be stuffed for an equal amount of times for negative yards. Bold prediction: 5 to 6 of the scores will result in plays over 35 yards.
Super Bowl Review We knew that McNabb would be the deciding factor in this game but we counted on him performing at a high level, which would have sent this game flying over. Everyone keyed on Owens and Westbrook being the difference makers but we had Donovan pegged as the main target for us getting the win. We almost put Philadelphia +7 as our pick but decided to go with the over. McNabb cost us in the first quarter with two costly interceptions, one which was called back, and then screwed the over with another interception in the second half with his team driving for more points. New England could have gotten us the over when they had first and goal at the 4 and had to settle for the field goal and with a stretch of the imagination they could have kicked a field goal near the end instead of the punt. We took the over because we thought there was too much talent on both sides of the ball for the game to stay low scoring. We even thought that there would be a defensive or special team touchdown but that did not happen. We are not going to rag on McNabb because he is a stand up guy who gives his all every game and does not hide when he does not play his best. With that said, a good game from him and we get the over and the Eagles are the Champions. If we are on the right page, this team will be back and McNabb will be the one celebrating next year. We covered every quarter with the under in the first and the over in each remaining quarter. We won the second half and lost the first half totals. The total for the game cost us in the wallet.

I personally emailed over 25 customers with what I was going to do because they had emailed me with concern for the weather. Philadelphia/Atlanta OVER 40 Last week, Atlanta had an offensive explosion putting up a week high 47 points against the Rams. The Eagles looked good offensively at times even after 4 weeks off. Both these teams have solid defenses but the offenses will shine this week. Both QB’s will show the entire league why they are two of the most dangerous players in the league. Vick may be the only QB who can throw for under 100 yards and still have a monster game. The Eagles will have to find someway to stop him, which many teams cannot do. McNabb will beat you with his arm. It doesn’t matter if Owens is in or out of the lineup; McNabb uses all of his wide receivers. The X-factor in this game will be the running backs. They will be the reason this is a total offensive show.
This game had more than one chance to go over but the football gods were not good to us. Too many mistakes in the red-zone resulted in too many field goals and not enough touchdowns. The weather did not help but more than that, the Eagles defense dominated the Falcons offense more than anyone predicted. If you got a push or win, you waited until Thursday to bet the over at 37 or 36.5. We posted 40 so we were a loser on the guarantee.
New England/Pittsburgh OVER 36 These two teams met earlier in the year and points flew all over the place. Even though the weather is forecasted to be cold, points will still fly. The reason is very simple: defense. Now, when you think of points you think of offense, but both defenses will come up with big plays that will help lead the offenses to easy points. Both these teams like to control the clock but both teams know they need points to do that. Both teams have proven offenses and defenses. Both will show up but in this case, it is a good thing both will show up because it will lead to plenty of points.
The Patriots went over by themselves in this game. The Steelers had no answer for the Patriots offense and New England’s defense helped by scoring for us. Big Ben should not be blamed because after all, he is just a rookie and he had a great year. Still has to be considered the steal of the draft and a fixture as a Steelers Quarterback.
New England -3 @ Pittsburgh Who would have ever figured that a team that is 16-1 and playing a game at home would be an underdog. That tells you one thing: New England is a tough team to play in the playoffs. You have a rookie QB against a proven winner. Even though the Steelers are at home and have already beaten the Patriots, that is all old news and means nothing. Everyone expected the Colts to go into New England and beat the Pats last week. One thing everyone forgot is the Pats don’t lose in the playoffs. A proven winner will always have the advantage over an MVP or a standout rookie, especially in the playoffs. Look for the Pats to try to make it two in a row.
Everyone has been saying that this was the easiest pick of the weekend but we think we actually got lucky with this one. Pittsburgh had the momentum and a chance to pull within seven points at the beginning of the 4th quarter. What the heck were they thinking when they decided to kick a field goal on fourth down instead of going for it. Why did they not just give the ball to the Bus 4 straight plays? Even if they do not make it, the defense had started to show life and could have given the offense the ball back in good field position. The momentum switched and the game was done. We are thankful and very grateful for the bad decisions and will take the win. Free PickNFL Free Pick Atlanta @ Philadelphia –5 Will the jinx end this year for the Eagles? They can’t lose 4 in a row, can they? It’s possible but the Eagles won’t let that happen. Even though the most explosive player in the league is coming to town, a player who made a NFL defense look like a Pee-Wee team last week, means absolutely nothing to the Eagles. McNabb wants to prove himself as a winner. This is his 4th chance to make that first step. The Eagles to the Super Bowl.
They have to still be dancing in the streets of Philadelphia as the Eagles finally get over the hump. Celebrate now but focus on winning the big one and not settling for just being there. Should be a great match-up in the Super Bowl with Brady and his under rated wide receivers going against the great secondary of the Eagles. Will McNabb have Owens back to help the cause? Denver @ Indianapolis –10 Last week’s match up between these two teams means absolutely nothing. Denver beat the Colts’ second string 33-14. This is for real now. The Colts’ offense is too powerful for the Broncos’ defense. Denver proved absolutely nothing in the second half of the season. They couldn’t beat anybody. They even lost to the Raiders at home in the snow. This should be a blowout with Manning picking apart the Broncos’ secondary. The Broncos offense is strong but the defense will be picked apart and will lead to the end of the Broncos’ season.
The Colts put this one away early. The Broncos made a push at the beginning of the 2nd half but the game and the cover was never in doubt. This was like watching history repeat itself. The real question is if the Colts can rewrite history next week.
Green Bay/Minnesota OVER 48 It doesn’t matter when these two teams meet, points will be scored. They have met two times already this year with the Packers winning both games 34-31. The Packers are pretty tough when they play at home in December and January but when these two teams get together, you pretty much throw out any spreads. The only thing these two teams do on a consistent basis when it comes to head to head match ups is points, points, points. The defenses just seem to disappear when these two teams get together. The same should happen in their third match up this year. Look for this game to fly over the total even in the cold chilly Green Bay air.
Make a field goal and we get this over. If Favre could stay away from the interception bug this game flies over the total. What the heck was he thinking at the end of the half? We like Brett but he never gets the ridicule for the horrible choices he sometimes makes. If Culpepper would have played like Brett people would be calling for his head. Go figure that one out.
New York Jets @ San Diego –6 San Diego proved they are a solid team even when their big time players sit the bench. The Chargers ended the year with a victory over the Chiefs and that should be a big boost coming into this game. Even though the Jets lost last week, they made the playoffs because the Bills lost to the Steelers. The Jets are not coming into the playoffs on a high note losing the last two games. The Chargers want to prove to everyone they are for real. They would love nothing more than to destroy the Jets and take their show to the second round. The Jets have a solid defense but it won’t be enough to stop the Chargers from heading to the next round.
What a poor performance by the Chargers. The only time in the game that they seemed interested was in the 4th quarter. If they would have played the entire game with that kind of emotion they would have blown the Jets out. Heck, they played not to lose in overtime and it cost them the victory. Free PicksMinnesota @ Green Bay –6 The Packers will look to put Minnesota away early and see if Moss leaves the field in the 3rd quarter. We are pretty certain Randy will stick around although he will not be happy with the results on the field. Green Bay is playing too well to let Minnesota have a chance in this game. The Vikings are down and soon will be out for the count.
Is it time to move on without the legend? It was sad to watch a super hero play like a below average quarterback. Yes he stunk up the field and if it were anyone else there would have much more mud thrown at him. Great performance by Dante and company. Do they have it in them to beat Philadelphia? St. Louis +4 @ Seattle If Seattle would have beaten the Rams once this year this might have been on of our guaranteed picks. We think the Rams will win straight up but that would make it three straight in one year, which is very difficult to do. With that said, the Rams should be able to keep the score within a field goal and get us the cover.
The Rams continue to win despite themselves. This is a scary team to play because you really do not know what the heck they are going to do or how they are going to play. Atlanta has to be a bit worried this weekend. Bulger and company could cause a lot of grief or get blown out. Seattle needs to make a change at the top because this is not going to get it done.
