Colts -7 vs. Bears

How many people at the beginning of the year had the Colts in the Super Bowl? The number was probably pretty high. How many people had the Bears in their Super Bowl prediction? That number was probably much, much lower. Then after the first 6 or 7 weeks of the season and the Bears were on fire, people thought this was the team to beat. Then Grossman starting getting erratic and the defense wasn’t as stoppable as they were and people thought no way this team will make it through the playoffs. But low and behold, through all the questioning and criticism (especially of Grossman) the Bears are in the Super Bowl.

Then you think about the Colts. They lost Eddergin James to free agency and their defense for a while couldn’t stop a pee wee football team from running the ball. Then the playoffs came around and that’s when the questioning of the Colts began. Can Peyton shake the monkey off his back? Again, low and behold, Peyton beats his archenemy Brady and Pats and finally gets that monkey off his back and gets his team to the Super Bowl. Peyton has no desire to let that monkey jump back on for a ride; he wants that Super Bowl ring on his finger.

Who’s stronger: Peyton and the Colts offense or Urlacher and the Bears defense? You have to side with the Colts. Sure the Bears will be able to stop the running game of the Colts but can they stop the passing game. Can you shut down the receiving staff of the Colts? Can they shut down Wayne, Harrison, Clark or anybody else they throw in the mix? Peyton is a field general who will pick apart the Bears defense.

Who’s stronger: The Bears offense or the Colts defense? Again, the Colts are the better play. Why you may ask? Well, in the regular season this would have been a different story but in the playoffs, the defense has stepped up. Sure they gave up 34 points to the Pats, but they made some big plays down the stretch. Bob Sanders is back and you can just see the spark he adds to this team. They hit just a little harder with him in the line-up. Look for the Colts to try and get to Grossman early with some big hits and rattle him. If the Colts can do that, the Bears don’t stand a chance.

The Colts will walk out of Super Bowl XLI with a victory. That is our Super Bowl Prediction. It will be hard fought but they will cover the spread. Peyton will no longer have to worry about people saying he is a great quarterback but could never win the big one. He will be the one people say is one of the greatest quarterbacks to play come Feb 5th.
