New England @ SanDiego -5
We are going against the Patriots again this week. The Chargers will be a mile high this weekend as they host the big, bad Patriots. Poor Marty must be losing sleep thinking about all the misfortunes in his coaching career. Rest Coach, you've got LT and for that reason you will win and move one step closer to the Super Bowl.
Every time New England looks dead in the water they turn the ship and get everyone thinking they are back, then they turn right back around and show the wear and tear of losing key players over the past season. San Diego will make them look normal and Brady will get to know Mr. Merriman way too often. Look for LT to show why he is the MVP and look for Merriman to show why he should have been voted MVP.
Thoughts and Ponders:
Doctor D and Thehooks book welcome you to Thoughts and Ponders. Can you believe the college football season is finished? Let’s take a look back at a great bowl season and maybe dip into a little NFL playoffs.
Congrats to Florida for winning the national championship. Nobody thought they stood a chance. Some believed they didn’t even belong in the title game. Well, to everyone who doubted. Florida, I’m sure they are holding up one finger and it’s not the we are number one finger!
Boise St. vs. Oklahoma one of the best bowl games of all time?
Does Ohio St deserve the number 2 ranking? I think not. It should go Florida, LSU, Boise St and then maybe Ohio St.
Another disappointing year for Notre Dame football. They haven’t won a bowl game since 1994!
Do we really need an International Bowl?
It’s hard to watch the Sugar Bowl and then the International Bowl and then the GMAC Bowl and then the National Title game. It’s like that old Sesame Street bit, one of these don’t belong but in this case, there are two. I’m hoping you can figure it out.
Wow, did Michigan prove they didn’t belong in the National Title game. Don’t worry Michigan; you should be preseason number one next year with USC right at number 2.
Troy Smith lived up to his Heisman didn’t he?
You gotta feel for Ginn Jr though. Return a kickoff for a touchdown and then get hurt and can’t play for the rest of the game. Don’t know if he would have made a 30 point difference but maybe at least 14.
You got the feeling without Ginn, Troy Smith lost his security blanket. He was like Linus from the Peanuts when he loses his blue blanket, just a total wreck.
Do you think Wisconsin could have been the best team in the Big 10?
SEC proved they are the strongest conference by far.
Do we really need 32 bowl games? Remember when you had to be 6-5 or 7-5 to make a bowl? Now you can be .500 and make a bowl just as long as you win 6 games. My problem with that is not all 6-6 teams make it. So what makes one 6-6 team better than another? Nothing in my book. Hey, you have to have a winning record to get into a bowl fair and square!
Let’s put a playoff system in place for college football. Take the top 16 teams and go from there.
Good bye college football, see you in about 8 months.
The NFL playoffs are in full swing. Can you smell the Super Bowl?
Can the Pats knock off the number one seed Chargers?
Tom Brady is 11-1 in the postseason with 3 Super Bowl rings while Philip Rivers has never played in a playoff game. People say the Pats can take them but don’t forget that one guy, you know who he is.....oh yeah, the MVP L.T.
Manning can’t make the mistakes this week against the Ravens like he did last week against the Chiefs. 3 interceptions could lead to 21 points for the Ravens without their offense touching the ball.
Can the Saints keep the dream alive against the Cinderella Eagles?
Will the Bears knock off last year’s NFC champion Seahawks this week? Grossman needs to look better than he did against the Packers two weeks ago.
Good bye Tiki Barber, you are a great person, great scholar of the game and an amazing person. You will be missed.
Well folks, enjoy the playoff games this weekend. And don’t be sad about college football being gone, it will be back before you know it. Congrats again to the Florida Gators! This is the Doctor, signing out!
