Stat of the Week:

Nevada and Hawaii series has seen the home team win ATS and SU the past 5 years. Now you can make that 6 years in a row.

NC State is 13-0 as an away dog under Coach Amato.

Kansas City

Since the readers of Reno have been enjoying the information for free we thought that we would send this out to Thehooks Book customers. We are 7-3 with this pick.

NFL 4 HOOK

Kansas City +3 @ Buffalo

The Chiefs coming off a huge victory travel to Buffalo this week to take on the Bills. The momentum of that great comeback by the Chiefs and the fact that the team knows their coach plays to win will help the Chiefs cover and possibly win this game straight up. The confidence and trust that happens after a great win like last week could propel this team to another level.

The Bills are allowing 5.0 yards a carry and over 150 total rushing yards a game. They will struggle to stop the run game of Kansas City, even without Holmes. Buffalo has also allowed 13 rushing touchdowns, worst in the league. Because Kansas City will control the clock and tempo of the game you have to like the fact that you are getting 3 points here.

Buffalo is tough against the pass but will have to commit more people to the run and Green will play action them to death in the second half. Buffalo will be able to run the ball but will continue to struggle with the passing offense. Only San Francisco and Houston have a worse passing offense than the Bills. Expect over 60% of all the plays to be on the ground, therefore the clock will run and the game will be short and sweet. Take the 3 points and possibly a straight up win by the Chiefs.

Dr. D's Thoughts And Ponders

The best and the worst of the past week in football brought to you by Dr. D of Thehooks book.

T.O., T.O., T.O.! Enough said. In fact, I’m going to throw in a dime so I have enough two cents to go around, cause I’m going to need it!

Sean Salisbury put it perfectly. His description of T.O. was exactly right: “He is the ultimate “I” guy in the ultimate “We” sport.” Doesn't get any better than that!

Where should Owens go now? You know somebody is going to take a chance next year. What about the Raiders? They always seem to attract some “winners.” How about Romo? What about Robbins, the center that went AWOL the day before the Super Bowl? If I was a betting man, I’d put some money on Owens in Oakland next season.

Could you imagine Moss and Owens playing on the same team? Somebody would be complaining by week 2.

If nobody picks him up, maybe he can join a soap opera. He’d be perfect because he is full of drama. But he’d probably complain because he didn’t get enough lines or nobody celebrated his 100th show or maybe somebody’s crying could have been better if they weren’t so tired at the end or maybe if they had another actor or actress, their show would be better. Hell, he might even demand the show to be named after him. Like sands through an hourglass, so our the “Days of Owens.”

Enough Owens, my dime has been used and he isn’t worth throwing more money in to talk about. On with “Thoughts And Ponders.”

How about the Eagles now? I think they will be better without him. They got rid of the “I” and now can focus on the “We.”

A few years ago when Holmes got hurt, Kansas City struggled. Now they have Larry Johnson and he will be out to prove he is a top notch running back in the league. And by the end of the year, he just might be. K.C. will still miss Holmes, but Johnson eases the pain.

Did Miami prove they need to be considered one of the best teams in the nation? They put a hurting on Va Tech. Miami’s defense just dominated. Tech’s running game never happened and Vick was pressured nonstop! To me, Miami needs to be considered a top team along with USC, Texas, and Bama.

Finally, Manning got that damn Patriot monkey off his back. Not only did he take the monkey off his back, he threw it on the ground, stomped on it a few times and then walked away with a big smile on his face.

The Colts proved they are the best team in the league right now. Will they run the table and go 16-0? I doubt it. I see one maybe two losses at the most.

Remember though, when the playoffs hit, all records are 0-0. And until somebody beats the Pats in the playoffs, they still need to be considered the team to beat. Now we know the Colts are the best in the AFC if not the entire league, but what about the NFC? Who is the best team in the NFC? Two weeks ago, people were saying the Bucs but after back to back losses, they aren’t the talk of the town anymore. A lot of people are saying the Giants right now but my choice is the Panthers. People are overlooking this team. And if the Seahawks can get by their nemesis the Rams, they need to be considered as well.

Games of the Week: Yes I said games; there are some good ones this weekend.

First One: Florida vs. South Carolina. Spurrier’s old team vs. Spurrier’s new team.

Game Two: Rams vs. Seahawks. Seahawks are the better team but have always had trouble against the Rams.

Game Three: Broncos vs. Raiders. One of the best teams in the league takes on one of the best teams with a losing record. Nobody wants to play the Raiders no matter what their record is. Raiders are one of the toughest teams in the league no matter what their record says.

Game Four: LSU vs. Alabama. Only in the SEC would you find the 3rd ranked team in the nation, who is undefeated and playing at home and is considered an underdog!

This is Dr. D signing out wishing you all a happy and healthy weekend of watching football.
