Stat of the Week:
Most of you know there have been seven teams to win back to back Super Bowls but never three in a row.
But did you know that the year after the back to back run an AFC team won the Super Bowl the following year the first 4 times and the NFC has been the victor the past 3 times. Does the NFC produce the next Super Bowl winner to complete the trend?
Long Shots to Win It All
Staying with the trend that the NFC will produce the next Super Bowl Champion I think you would have to lay money on the Eagles. Besides money on the Eagles I am also looking at making some noise with these three long shots:
Carolina Panthers 18 to 1
Minnesota Vikings 22 to 1
Tampa Bay Bucs 35 to 1
In the next issue I will explain why each team above has a chance to win it all. Although I think the Ravens will buck the trends this year and become the next Super Bowl Champion. This will also be discussed more in detail.
From The Nose Bleed Section:
Thoughts and Ponders: Early Summer Version
The sound of pads hitting each other is now in session. The whiz of the pigskin out of a quarterback's hand is here. Even though it is only mini-camp time, the smell of football is in the air. And when the smell is in the air, there will always be some thoughts and ponders to go around.
Jamal Lewis is finally out of jail. He lifted quite a bit, worked in the tool shop and was treated like a prisoner and not like an NFL superstar. He now has a new look on life. He might be a force to be reckoned with this season.
What are the chances of Lewis endorsing a cell phone company? Probably unlikely but wouldn't that be funnier than hell to see.
What the hell is Terrell Owens’ problem? First he knocks McNabb and then wants to restructure his 7-year contract. He believes he is in the right and not the wrong. This man may be a great wide receiver but he may have been hit a few too many times in the head. This man may know how to run straight up and down a football field but when it comes to straight thoughts, there may be more people in mental institutes with straighter thoughts!
The Broncos pick up Jerry Rice. Good for him. He will actually contribute quite a bit to that team.
The 49ers should have picked up Rice though. Come on, this guy was one of the main reasons they have a few Super Bowl trophies. He started his career with the Niners, let him finish with them. A big thumbs down to the Niners!
Back to sane thoughts. Any chance Kevin Winslow is related to Owens?
Maurice Clarette: 1,000 yard back for the Broncos? You just never know. Could be the steal of the draft.
Todd Marinovich is back in the news because of drugs. What a surprise huh? But the true question is, do we really care?
Jevon Walker is holding out of Packers camp. Plus, he is pissing off Brett Favre. Good choice Walker! Hey Walker, if Favre says screw him, let him go or trade him, the Packers will do that. Don't you know that Favre is a god in Packer land?
Question of the Week: Out of all the draft picks, who will help his team out the most in his rookie season?
Be prepared for some more thoughts and ponders throughout the summer because remember, whenever there is a football being tossed around, there is always going to be thoughts and ponders to write about.
