Colts/Patriots Over 47

Tom Brady seems to have righted the ship and the team everyone was writing off, including me, is the hottest team in the AFC. It is just amazing how the Patriots just keep plugging in players without skipping a beat.

The Colts look like the old Colts, all offense with little defense. Manning seems to be able to switch a button and presto the offense finds the other gear that most teams can only dream about.

The only way this game stays under is if the Patriots run for 250 yards and even then, the Colts would have to turn the ball over in the Red Zone several times for the total to stay under.

Usually when two good teams square off the under is the play and it has been when these two have played in the playoffs, but, when they have played in the regular season the past three years, the game has gone over the total.

Take the over and enjoy the game this Sunday Night.

Thoughts and Ponders:

The Doctor and Thehooks book welcome you to yet another edition of Thoughts and Ponders. Sit back, grab a beverage of your choice, relax and let the soothing rants of Doctor D. get you ready for weekend football.

Is Michael Vick for real? 7 touchdown passes in two weeks! Is Vick finally grasping the spot of QB? If he is, the league is in real trouble.

Think about this: The last two weeks the Falcons have won, they have had to rely on Vick’s arm because the running game isn’t working. Just imagine if the running game gets going again and Vick keeps doing what he is doing with his arm. Things that make you go...Holy Crap, the Falcons are going to be good!

Romo! Romo! Romo! Is that the new chant in Dallas? We at least know it’s coming out of one person’s mouth: T.O. He got the ball thrown to him so he’s happy.

In all actuality, Romo didn’t look too bad against the Panthers. Maybe he is the missing link for the Cowboys.

Shawne Merriman is a stud...but now we know why, steroids! Come on man, do it on your own. You’re a man amongst boys out there without the roids.

Is it me or is the 4-game suspension for “muscle enhancements” a little too low. I bet if you suspended somebody for a season, it would scare the crap out of people doing it.

The Colts are still the best team in the AFC.

That Denver/Colts game was a great game last week coming down to the wire. You just don’t give Manning 1:49 seconds to drive the field to win a game. You just don’t give someone like Manning that much time. It’s not like Shaq shooting a free throw where you just don’t know what to expect but rather telling Shaq to go under the basket and dunk the ball every time he touches it while playing against 4th graders, it’s almost a for sure thing! A little basketball comparison for you this week, since the NBA is now starting.

I think it was bad play calling on Shannahan’s part anyway. He got conservative when he got in field goal range. That’s why Manning had so much time.

Has there been a good Monday night game this year?

Colts vs Pats and Broncos vs Steelers this week...some good games there.

How in the hell do you win a game while only getting 98 total yards of offense? I have no idea but apparently that’s the key to success for the Raiders.

This Monday night game should be solid huh? Seattle minus Hasselback and Alexander vs the Raiders who look to crack the century mark in total offense this week. Wow, should be a nail biter!

The Beavers beat the Trojans! That’s not something a man wants to hear, but when I’m talking about sports it’s ok. So men, you can come back and continue reading.

With U.S.C. losing and Michigan and Ohio St playing each other later on this month, that second spot in the national championship game is up for grabs. Winner of Ohio St and Michigan vs. West Virginia, Louisville, Florida, Auburn, Notre Dame.... ??????

How big is the Louisville/West Virginia game? Winner has top dibs for the national title game. Wow, you can cut the excitement with a knife.

Remember when Virginia Tech vs Miami was the game of the week? Nobody is even talking about it this year.

Cal is the best team in the PAC 10.

According to the Captain Hook of the Hooks Radio Show in Reno Nevada, the Nevada Wolf Pack will beat Boise St at the end of the year. Hey folks, I didn’t say it, he did!

On that note, before I lose any more readers after that last comment, the Doctor and Thehooks book wish you happy football watching this weekend. Enjoy all the games. This is the Doctor, signing out.
