San Jose State @ Hawaii -24
Hawaii keeps scoring over 60 points and there is no reason to believe that they will all of sudden stop scoring. Last week they only had 9 points after the 1st quarter and still put up over 60. They will score 60 and cover the 24 because..
San Jose State is not going to score over 24 points because they are not that good. Period! I know they put up a great fight against Boise State but that was at home and Boise tends to play at the level of their opponent. I saw San Jose State lay an egg at Nevada, their only score came from and end of the half Nevada mistake. San Jose State does not have the offensive power to stay within the number.
Hawaii will be ready and realistically we should thank San Jose State and Boise because this line would have been higher if Boise State would have blown out the Spartans. Because the game was close the line is only 24 and Hawaii has taken notice of the almost upset last week.
Thoughts and Ponders:
The Doctor and Thehooks book welcome you to another edition of Thoughts and Ponders. This week's edition tackles the tough questions like who's going to win the Ohio St/Michigan game and who's the worst team in the NFL. So sit back and relax, and let the Doctor rant your ear off.
Ohio St vs Michigan. Michigan vs Ohio St. Wolverines vs Buckeyes. #1 vs #2. Doesn't matter how you say it; it is going to be one heck of a game.
It's hard to believe in all the years that Ohio St and Michigan have played, this will be the first time it pits each other as the #1 and #2 teams in the nation.
Remember when Texas as the number 2 team in the nation played Ohio St the number 1 team in the nation early this year? No? I don't think anybody will after this game either.
Troy Smith will be the difference maker in this game, win or lose. Both defenses are in the top 5, both are solid at RB and WR as well as special teams. It's all going to come down to Smith. He makes plays, Ohio St wins easily. He struggles, Michigan wins easily.
By the way, when I say easily I mean by a touchdown. There will be no blowout in this game.
Troy Smith will either lock in the Heisman this weekend, or if he struggles...well, he probably will still get the Heisman.
What a shake-up in the BSC this past weekend! Louisville, Texas, Auburn, Cal all go down. Now these teams that lost earlier in the year have a chance again.
U.S.C. is back at that #3 in the BCS again, jumping over #4 Florida. They have to get by Cal this week which is now in the position of spoiler instead of national champion hopeful. If they get by Cal, the U.S.C. vs. Notre Dame match-up is going to be a real big one.
Let me ask you this: Say Ohio St beats Michigan and Notre Dame beats U.S.C., does Notre Dame belong being ranked higher than Michigan in the BCS? Michigan kicked their butt at South Bend earlier in the year, so who knows.
Aren't you glad you don't work for the BCS right now?
Is it time to go to a playoff system in college football? Top 16 teams? Top 8? Top 4?
By a show of hands, who had Rutgers ranked #6 in the BCS rankings? Anyone, Bueller.....Bueller....Bueller. Didn't think so.
Who's the best team in the NFL right now? You would have to say Colts considering they are 9-0 but they haven't won all their games real easily.
What about the Chargers? Wow, what a comeback against the Bengals. High powered offense at it's finest. But it did show the league something though. Without Merriman, this is a very mediocre defense.
Are the Bengals done?
Who is the best team in the NFC? Bears? They are too inconsistent on offense. Cowboys? Too much drama. Giants? Too banged up. Panthers? Are they going to start clicking? How about the Seahawks? Nobody has been talking about them and they withstood the storm of injuries and within the next few weeks get Alexander and Hasselback back on the field. Watch out for Seattle.
Who is the worst team in the NFL? Raiders? Cardinals? Well, these two teams played and the Raiders won so that makes the Cardinals the worst team right?
Chad Johnson finally had his break out game of the year getting 260 yards receiving. They still lost. And oh by the way will the announcers please stop calling him OCHO CINCO! That is 8 and 5 not 85! Stop it! It's just embarrassing!
Remember last week I said if you would have bet on Nevada, BYU, Ohio St, Hawaii and the OVER in Hawaii games you would be 42-6, I messed up. I forgot to put Central Michigan in there. If you put Central Michigan in there you would be 42-6. So my bad on that one...Oh, just in case you cared, they went 6-0 against the spread last week.
Who is the number one pick in next year's NFL draft?
