The RGJ Pick: Indianapolis -18

The Colts are laying 18 points this weekend and yes we are going to lay the points against a very weak Tennessee team.

At home this year the Colts beat a good Jags team by 7 and destroyed a weak Houston team by 19. The Titans lost on the road by 37 points to a good San Diego team and then lost by 3 to a weak Miami team.

Last week the Titans lost to Dallas by 31 points at home and now must go visit a Colt team that we think ranks higher than Dallas.

Vince Young will have his day in the NFL but his break out party will not be this week. Dallas is very tough on defense but not as quick as the defense of the Colts. Combine that with the noise factor that Young will have to deal with and you have a recipe for disaster.

So the question is will the Colts be able to cover? They are 4-2 ATS since 2004 when laying double digits at home. Last week they survived the instant classic against New York Jets. They will make sure that they will not have to survive a miracle finish and beat the Titans by 3 touchdowns.

Dr. D and Thehooks book welcomes everyone to yet another wild and crazy edition of Thoughts and Ponders.

If you remember last week, I thought we should start a poll about who is the biggest nut job of them all. Well little did we know that the true winner of the poll wasn’t even one of the possibilities. What this guy did was so disgustingly horrible, I won’t even mention his name. Stepping on an opponent’s head not once but twice? Are you kidding me? This guy should be checked for some sort of drug cause he is on something. His 5 game suspension was way too low. He should be gone for the year if not his career. And the Nut Job of the year goes to...

By the way, when he comes back do you think people will be gunning for this guy?

The Titans are in a tailspin already this season. Bullock shouts out and Young is starting. It’s too soon for Young. Give the reins back to Collins. Collins isn’t much better but Young needs to learn. Remember a few years ago, the Giants threw Manning into the mix and he struggled early and often and last year the 49ers threw in Smith and he struggled. Manning is blooming and Smith is still struggling.. Don’t get me wrong, Young is an amazing athlete but still isn’t NFL QB ready.

Look at Michael Vick. He has been in the league for umpteen years now and he is still struggling to grasp the full NFL QB roll.

Good to see Steve Smith on the field last Sunday.

Manning drives his Colts down the field for the go ahead score and then the kickoff is returned for a touchdown. WOW. Thank god the Colts have Manning or that would have been a loss to any other team.

Patriots don’t lose two in a row!

Bengals aren’t quite ready to take over as the top team in the AFC quite yet.

Steve McNair and the Ravens are the team to watch out for. Two weeks in a row McNair has led them to a last minute drive to win the game. Hey everybody, the Fountain of Youth is in Baltimore.

How bad are the Raiders? 21-3 lead and they lose 24-21. Nice.

49ers vs. Raiders this week...YOO-HOO!!!!

Ohio St vs Iowa didn’t turn out to be much of a game.

Brady Quinn’s Heisman run begins this week against Stanford and then will continue through UCLA, Navy, UNC, Air Force and then Army before he hits USC. In the next 6 games he will have 22 TD passes, that’s my prediction.

Now if Florida beats LSU this weekend, should there be any question who may be the best team in the SEC if not the nation??? Miami is starting to tumble as a powerhouse in NCAA football.

I thought Dante Culpepper was going to bring some excitement to the Dolphins this year? Apparently, he didn’t get that memo.

If Temple and Duke played, would anyone show up?

Michigan St. is done.

If you like offense, watch the Idaho/New Mexico St game this weekend. I know two crappy teams but two crappy teams with no defense...points!

Cal vs. Oregon.

Florida vs. LSU

Tennessee vs. Georgia

Colts vs Titans. I’m sorry how did that get in there.

T.O. back in Phili. I’m going to bet the house he is going to get booed.

Terry Glenn will have a big game for Dallas. If Dallas wins this Sunday, it will be because of Glenn not T.O.

Well folks, enjoy your weekend. This is the Doctor and Thehooks book signing out!
