Dr. D's Thoughts and Ponders:

THOUGHTS AND PONDERS:

The Doctor is back with yet another Thoughts and Ponders. Not as many upsets this week but there is one everyone is talking about. It's by one of only four Division I teams whose mascot doesn't end with an s.

The mighty USC Trojans fall to the lowly Stanford Cardinal. Wow!!!

That last play...there could have been a little pushoff in the endzone but what a catch! What a throw!

What do you think of the Cardinal QB? First career start and you take out the number one team in the nation. Can you ever top that victory in your college career? Of course you can, you can win a national championship or a Heisman but you have to remember it's Stanford. So probably not going to top this one...unless he does it again next year!

The announcers were saying this was the biggest upset of the college football year. I don't know what to think about that one. Don't get me wrong, this was wickedly huge, but was it bigger than Appalachian St over Michigan??? HMMM...

Ok, let's analyze these two games: Stanford beats USC at USC. USC is the number one team in the nation and hasn't lost at home in 35 games. That's a span that dated back to 2001 and surprisingly Stanford was the team to beat them back then as well. Stanford most likely takes away USC's Pac-10 title hopes as well as their national title hopes and drops USC to number 10 in the rankings.

Appalachian St beats Michigan in Ann Arbor. Michigan is ranked fifth in the nation. Michigan had quite a few seniors come back (Hart, Henne, etc...) to try and win a national championship. Appalachian St is a Division II school and comes in and shocks the nation. Michigan is knocked out of the top 25 with no chance of winning the national championship but can still win the Big Ten. HMMM.... You make the call on the biggest upset of the year!

Were there any other games this weekend? Oh yeah, LSU vs Florida. LSU comes back to beat Florida in the fourth quarter. Great game from start to finish just like it is every single year.

Did anyone think Ohio St would be this good this quick? Wasn't this supposed to be a rebuilding year? If Cal or LSU loses and Ohio St wins out, they could be in the national championship game again this year! I guess it's called recruiting.

Is there a better conference than the SEC? From top to bottom, anybody can beat anybody on any given week.

Louisville is horrible this year. Did they forget that they have to play defense? Gotta recruit on both sides of the ball.

Hawaii is better than people think. Colt Brennan has missed a game and barely played last game and may even miss this weeks game and they are still winning. Now granted they are favored by 40 points and only win by 15 but it's still a win. Plus they are putting up 50+ points each game! Some teams are favored by 40 and lose by 1. Sorry USC.

Is it me or is the NFL rather sloppy this year? There are a lot of mistakes, lots of turnovers, lots of penalties, etc... Sometimes it looks like we are watching a preseason game. This is week 6 now. I'm sorry a 9-7 game is horrible. A 144 total yards in a game is pathetic. 6 turnovers by one person is ridiculous. Clean it up a little bit please boys!

The two quarterback system seems to be working in Arizona. Oops, now it becomes a one man show with Leinhart breaking his collarbone. Kurt Warner, it's your show again. You want to prove you can still play, here’s your chance.

Hey, I wish the Cards and Warner the best. I want them to make the playoffs. They are good young talented team. I just don't want to see Warner's wife in the stands. Remember when he was in St. Louis and every time he did something good, they would show her and she was sporting the "Kid N' Play" high top fade? I almost stopped watching the NFL.

It's time for Trent Green to hang it up. Another year and another vicious collision leading to Green being knocked out. Hang em' up Trent. You had a great career.

Now what do you think the Dolphins fans think about Ginn Jr over Quinn?

What a Monday Night game! Romo has 6 turnovers and the Cowboys still win. Was it Cowboy luck? Was it Cowboy skill? Was it Cowboy determination to win? Or was it a Bills choke? Multiple choice question and I'm going with answer D!

Think the Cowboys over looked the Bills and were looking ahead to this week's game with the Patriots? They will tell you no but we can all smell the smoke.....liar, liar pants on fire!

How bad are the Saints and Seahawks? Aren't these two teams supposed to be two of the better NFC teams? Brees has one touchdown pass for the year. Reggie Bush is barely averaging 3 yards a touch and the Seahawks had a total of 144 yards last week. Watch out now, this Sunday Night game should be a scorcher this week!

Well folks, hopefully the NFL cleans up the sloppiness this week and we have some great games. Pats/Cowboys should be amazing. Until next, say safe and enjoy the games...This is the Doctor, signing out!

Betting Tips

Betting Tips:

6 betting tips that I think will win 55 to 63 times this year. This is the only spot to get all 6, I list 4 of them on the site.

Last Week 4-2 ATS 67%

Season Totals - 23-7-2 ATS 76%

Okay that was better!!

Central Michigan OVER (3-1-1) - Last week Central Mich 58 - Ball St. 38 (67)- WINNER! This is the team that I expect to see each week. I also liked them +13 which was an easy winner. This week they play Army and because Army has no offense the total is at 53. In case you have not noticed, C. Mich. has no defense. Take the OVER!! I think Central Michigan and Louisville should play in the Lights Out Bowl Game - Total will be set at 102 and I would still bet the OVER!

Missouri First half (4-0) Last week -3 vs. Nebraska and was a WINNER! This week they should be getting close to a touchdown in the first half versus Oklahoma. I think they will be leading at half.

Kansas (5-0) Winner last week (+3) with the outright victory against Kansas State. This week they lay 25 points to Baylor, bet them before it goes over 28

These next two teams I said I would drop after 2 losses but I am going to ride them one more week.

Purdue (3-2-1) Last week LOSER. Ohio State dominated this team. This week they travel to Michigan and get 7 points. Purdue will cover and I think win the game.

LSU (3-3) LOSER but what a finish. This week they are laying 9 points to Kentucky. If Kentucky had problems with South Carolina, yikes, look out Mr. Woodson, here comes the best defense in the nation. LSU wins and covers.

L'Ville OVER (5-1) Winner - this coach should be fired, this is the worst defense in the nation! Take the over again this week and just for fun lay the points with Cinn.
