THOUGHTS AND PONDERS:Welcome back to Thoughts and Ponders. I know, I know, it's been a couple of weeks since we've talked but I'm back for good now. You have to give the Doctor a little slack, I got married last week! There now is a Mrs. Doctor! The thoughts and ponders can only get better now.
Upset Saturday last weekend huh? How many top 25 teams fell? Something like 7. Bye bye National Title hopes for West Virginia, Oklahoma, Florida and Texas.
Every now and then I check the bowl predictions. I know it's early but the new Mrs. Doctor got me Fiesta Bowl tickets so I gotta check who they think is going to play. Anyway, I noticed that West Virginia went from the Orange Bowl to the Meineke Car Care Bowl with their loss to South Florida. That was a huge loss, in more than one way last Thursday.
Is South Florida for real? Ask West Virginia, they will give you their thoughts on that question.
Poor Rutgers. Two years in a row they finally crack the top 10 and two years in a row they lose.
Kentucky Wildcats. Yes Kentucky Wildcats. No, we are not talking about the basketball team, we are talking about the 8th ranked football team. If somebody told you this at the beginning of the year, you might have slapped them for being a doofus. We will find out how good they are this week when the take on South Carolina.
Bye bye Mr. Heisman for Colt Brennan. I'm sorry, you can't throw 5 interceptions in one game and still think you are one of the top Heisman hopefulls. Let's rephrase that: 5 interceptions against LSU and still win, maybe. But 5 interceptions against IDAHO, nope!
Cal against Oregon was a great game. Did Cal prove they are over the hump and ready for the title? The true test comes against USC in a few weeks.
LSU jumps USC for #1? Cal to number 3? What do you think?
Florida loses last week and they are 8 point underdogs to LSU. Is LSU that good? If LSU dominates this game, they should easily be number 1 with all 1st point votes. And I feel for any team that has to play the Tigers for the rest of the year.
How bad are the Chargers? They lost to the Chiefs. Up by 10 at half and lose by 14! Where has the offense gone? Where is L.T.? New coach has changed the Chargers just a bit, don't you think?
The Detroit Lions put up 34 points in the 4th quarter against the Chicago Bears. Yes, I said the Detroit Lions.
The Packers are 4-0. Brett Favre is the new All-time Touchdown QB. All is well in Green Bay. Congrats by the way Mr. Favre.
How good do the Patriots look so far this year? The Randy Moss-Tom Brady connection is ridiculous. Randy Moss looks like he is rested and ready to play. Oh wait, he probably is pretty rested considering he spent the last 3 years in Oakland just running up and down the field and never getting tackled. He never got the ball. Should be pretty loosened up and nobody is stopping him.
Speaking of the Raiders, 2-2 isn't too bad. They are a last second timeout away from being 3-1. Do they have a chance in the all of a sudden very weak AFC West this year? Or will they become the Oakland of old and win only 2 more games?
Nobody is talking about the Colts but they are just cruising along at 4-0. A few injuries last week could hurt them but we will have to wait and see.
Rodney Harrison comes back this week for the Patriots. Yeah, just what they needed, more help.
The Rams are 0-4. What happened to the greatest show on turf?
Jeff Garcia. The man is a winner. Doesn't matter where he goes, he brings victories.
Dallas Cowboys. This team is easily the best team the NFC and it may be a toss-up between them and the Pats for the best in the NFL. This team can put up points like it's going out of style. Midway through the 2nd quarter against the Rams last week it was 0-0. Midway through the 3rd quarter it was 35-7. Are you kidding me? They have scored 30 or more every game so far this year.
Tony Romo is ridiculous. Wicked ridiculous.

Okay so as soon as I list these picks they SUCK!! Sorry but you knew that was going to happen. I will continue to bet these games and hope to get back on track this week. If you jumped on board last week I understand if you stay off this week but you know that if you jump on and off all year you might find yourself always on the wrong side. You have to take the good with the bad. Good Luck to all of your.
Central Michigan OVER (2-1-1) - Last week - LOSER! The score was 35-10 at half (over was 59 for the game) and both teams score ZERO POINTS in the second half?? Ouch. This week they travel to the high powered Ball State team (scored 40 against Nebraska). Over is high, 67, but I am taking the over. On a side note - like Central Mich +13.5.
Missouri First half (3-0) No line last week. THis week laying 3.5 points to Nebraska. I thought they would be getting points but they are laying the 3.5. Looking for them to continue to roll in the first half.
Kansas (4-0) winner last week 55-3 (-30). No game last week. They are getting 3.5 points against their rival Kansas State. This will be a huge game in telling which team is for real. I am staying with Kansas!
Purdue (3-1-1) Last week LOSER. Laying 21 to Notre Dame and let Notre Dame get the back door cover. This week they get Ohio State at home. They are getting 7 points. Not sure on this one but I am taking Purdue because I am going to bet all these games for the year. Period!
LSU (3-2) LOSER - Loser - loser. 10-9 at half?? and they jump past USC?? Now they lay 9 points to Florida?? The line seems funny which means we should double up on the bet. Thought the line would be 4?? Laying the 9 and hoping for the best.
L'Ville OVER (4-1) LOSER - boy I am tired of that word, you can tell I had a horrible week last week. Does anyone have some spare cash?? Just kidding the bankroll is good because last week was the first bad week. This week the over is at 61 on a Friday Night home game against Utah. Taking the over and I am a L'Ville fan (even if they can't play defense) so I like them -14.
