THOUGHTS AND PONDERS:This the Doctor and welcome to Week number 2 in Thoughts and Ponders. All you have to say about the first week in college football is "WOW!!!"
Appalachian State!!!!! Nuff said.
Greatest upset of all time? In college football for sure. But how about in all sports, college and pro? I'd say top 5 at least.
Where does that leave Michigan besides out of the top 25? Leaves them with one loss...a bad loss but it's only one loss. Yeah, there BCS championship game chances may be gone but a Big Ten Title and a Rose Bowl berth is still possible.
What happens if Appalachian State loses this week to itsy bitsy Division II Lenoir-Rhyne? Don't be surprised, it's called a letdown game. App St. will be going from playing in front of 110,000 people to playing in who knows how many their stadium holds. At least they are at home and you know all their fans will be going nuts...all 2,000 of them.
USC, Texas, Virginia Tech and a few others didn't look too impressive in their first weeks. But they all looked better than Michigan! Ohh, cheap shot.
Colt Brennan. 416 yards passing and 6 touchdown passes in the first half. FIRST HALF!
Team to watch out for: Clemson.
As I'm sitting here writing this the Louisville Cardinals are beating Middle Tennesse St 51-42 in the beginning of the 4th quarter. Not a misprint folks...that's the score. I'm tired just watching it.
Notre Dame can't be that bad can they? Now they are turning to a freshman QB against Penn St at Happy Valley? A disaster waiting to happen? This could get ugly.
Cal looks for real this year. They could give USC a run for their money this year. I am going out on a limb here and say Cal wins the PAC-10 this year. Wait, did I just say that? Can I retract my last statement?
LSU vs. Virginia Tech. Game of the week easily.
The NFL is now here folks. That means millions of men, women, children, dogs, cats and everything else's Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays are now busy with football. Don't worry folks, soon college football starts on Tuesdays and your whole week becomes football.
One thing from the NFL this week. Wade Wilson. Are you kidding me? You are a QB coach and you are getting suspended for performance enhancing drugs. I'm confused. Why on god's green earth are you doing roids? You are a coach. Mindboggling. Now I could see if Tim Couch was on the team but he's flippin burgers somewhere. That was a low blow...but they both deserve it, one's out of the league and one's a flippin' coach and they are doing roids. That's doing them both some good, right? No respect from the Doctor.
