Stat of the Week:

There have been twenty teams win 14 or more games in the regular season. Last year Pittsburgh became the 7th such team not to make it to the Super Bowl.

Long Shots to Win It All

Staying with the trend that the NFC will produce the next Super Bowl Champion, perhaps the Buccaneers at 35 to 1 might be worth the chance to come through. No, we are not big Tampa Fans but we like Gruden as a coach and think he might be ready for another run.

John Gruden did wonders for Rich Gannon and I think Brian Griese will start to show similar results this year. Clayton is a great young wide receiver and the young stud running back Williams will make Florida fans forget about the other Williams. Also look out for Larry Brackins at wide receiver; he could be the steal of the draft.

Defense struggled to stay at their standards and will be challenged to uphold the tradition. The D has gotten old but with the projected offensive numbers they will not have to be as good all the time.

Tampa Bay has a chance to be 3-3 going into their bye. When they come out they will be at San Francisco which should put them at 4-3. The next two games will decide if they are to make a run. They get Carolina and Washington at home. If they head out to Chicago with a 6-3 record, then they will have a great shot of positioning themselves for the playoffs. At that point they would be down to around 15 to 1 odds, so grab them now at 35 to 1.

Is this a great bet? Well it is 35 to 1 so we will go out on a limb and say no, but at 35 to 1 and with the Eagles as the only true proven power house in the NFC, why not Tampa Bay to slide through?

From The Nose Bleed Section:

Thoughts and Ponders: Ricky Williams Version

Ricky wants back in the NFL. Why do you ask? Is it because he loves the game? Is it because he realized that he isn’t ready for retirement? Is it because he feels he can help the Dolphins win games? No, it’s because he spent all his money on weed and basically is broke.

His agent this week told the NFL that Williams has checked himself into a drug rehab clinic. He is trying to show everyone he is serious about coming back to the NFL. This is the same guy that a year ago told everyone that he likes smoking weed and wants to continue smoking it forever.

Remember a while ago, Williams told reporters that he used a Whizinator. For those who don’t know what that is, it is used during drug tests to clean out the traces of drugs in your system so the tests come out clean. This is known by research not by personal experience just in case you were wondering.

Williams is weighing about 195 pounds right now. This is quite a few pounds down from what he weighted when he played football. Now when you smoke weed, it is supposed to give you the “munchies” which means you just eat and eat and eat. Now if you put two and two together, if Williams was smoking weed, he’d weigh like 300 pounds right now. So maybe he is clean. That’s a step in the right direction I guess. By the way the smoking weed equals “munchies” theory, again research and not personal experience.

Now to prove Williams is broke, he is actually driving from California to Miami instead of flying. Now if that doesn’t scream broke, what else does that scream? Any average Joe can afford a plane ticket. Or is it that Williams can’t get weed on an airline so driving cross country just means lots of munchie stops.

The true question should be though; do the Dolphins want Williams back? They drafted a great running back in the draft that they consider their future back. Now let’s say that Williams does come back, do the Dolphins want Williams as a role model? Williams was a great back but a year lay off smoking and “finding oneself” couldn’t have helped. We will all just have to wait and see how the next few months go.
