2005 Fantasy Team

There are plenty of people that play Fantasy Football. You may play it with your buddies; maybe a few of you do it at work or even with family. I know tons of my friends are in Fantasy Football leagues. It isn’t possible to have the perfect fantasy league team but just imagine if you could. This would be my perfect Fantasy Football team...would it be yours?

My starting quarterback would have to be Peyton Manning. How could you not take the man who now owns the league record in touchdowns? Am I saying he is going to do it again this year? Probably not but this man is good for at least 35 touchdown passes and plenty of yards.

My sleeper quarterback would be Kerry Collins. Not much of a sleeper but this guy has two solid WR’s to throw to and will throw at least 30 TD’s this year.

Running Backs: LaDainian Tomlinson and Willis McGahee. Tomlinson may be the best player in the league right now. A man who can run by you, run over you and as well catch out of the backfield. McGahee will have a breakthrough season this year starting all the games. He has an inexperienced quarterback helping him out so a lot of pressure will be on his shoulders. He will respond in a big way and be a big stud.

Wide Receivers: Marvin Harrison and Randy Moss. Marvin Harrison is a must have. May not get you the long TD catches but gets you the yards and the consistent TD catches. When you have Manning throwing you passes, you know you will have big numbers. Randy Moss is just the opposite of Harrison. This is a guy that will get you the big numbers. May not be as consistent game in and game out but by year’s end, his TD catches and yards will be as equal if not greater than Harrison’s. This is the perfect 1-2 punch at WR.

Kicker: Gotta go with consistency in Adam Vinatieri. May not have the strongest leg in the league but when it comes to consistency and reliability, I’ll take Vinatieri over anybody else.

Defense: Baltimore Ravens. Easily the best defense in the league. Defensive line is strong, strong Linebackers as well as the best secondary in the league. Plus a strong return game makes this the must have in Fantasy.

In reality, this team probably isn’t reachable. Maybe if you play fantasy football with a bunch of people who have no idea then maybe you can get this team. It is possible to have a few of these guys on your team which will make you successful. This is my team and I’m sticking with it.... Anybody wanna take me on in Fantasy Football????

From The Nose Bleed Section:

Thoughts and Ponders from Dr. D:

This is Dr. D signing in from Thehooks Book bringing you the best and worst from the past week in football.

Football is now upon us. How great was it watching college football all last weekend? People were calling me asking to do something and my reply was “No way, football is on baby!” “Either come by and bring food or leave me alone so I can watch the games!”

Pro football is great and everything but to me, college football is the best. These guys are out there every weekend busting their butt for what? The money? NO! The fame? NO! They are playing for the love of the game and that is what makes it so great. Huge stadiums filled with fans galore screaming and chanting; urging their team to score. The best part about it is most of the fans in the stadium have a chance to rub shoulders with these football players during the week as they walk from class to class. College football is special.

An example of why college football is special was the Miami-Florida St. game on Monday night. When the clock reached :00, Florida St. was going nuts. They were jumping up and down like they had won the championship. Quite a few of the players jumped into the stands to enjoy the celebration with the fans. That was great to see. Don’t see many pro athletes do that. When you see players jump into the bleachers to celebrate with the fans; that makes the game even that much more special.

You know college football is exciting when you hear an announcer describe a hit on a QB as “He Bobby Boucher’d him!”

Some big time upsets this past weekend in college football. TCU goes into Norman and shocks the world by beating #7 Oklahoma 17-10. Did anyone see that coming? TCU shut down Peterson who last year ran over everybody and to make matters worse for Oklahoma is they had a passing game that rivaled peewee football. Either TCU is that good or possibly Oklahoma could be that bad. We will just have to sit back and watch.

Georgia Tech stunned Auburn at home 23-14. Remember last year when everyone was complaining that the BCS snubbed Auburn in favor of Oklahoma to play USC for the championship? I’m pretty sure you won’t be hearing that complaint anymore this year.

NFL football opens up with New England and the Raiders. The new look Raiders with Randy Moss take on the Super Bowl Champion Patriots. What a great game to start off the season. The highflying Raiders take on the precision play Patriots. Should be a great game to watch no matter who wins.

Jerry Rice said goodbye to the NFL this week. The greatest receiver of all time who holds more records than some guys have scored touchdowns retired after 20 seasons in the league. Though his last year wasn’t his greatest, we can count the other 19 years that he played as magical. May not have been the quickest of foot or the strongest, he was the hardest working player in the league hands down. And anytime you needed a big play, you could call on old number 80 to produce it for you. Goodbye Jerry, your presence on the field will be missed.

College Game of the Week

Texas @ Ohio St.

Are you kidding me with this match-up in week 2? Both these teams are national title contenders and they are meeting for the first time ever this week. Can you say instant classic?

NFL Game of the Week:

Philadelphia @ Atlanta.

I don’t think you could ask for a better Monday Night match-up to start the season. Two great quarterbacks going head to head in McNabb and Vick. Plus, you can’t exclude Owens cause you never know what he might do. I wonder what kind of pre-game skit they will do this year with him?

Until next week, sit back, relax and enjoy the games. And remember, if you are leaving a permanent butt indention in the chair from sitting in it all day on Saturday, don’t be afraid to move to the couch for Sunday’s action. This is Dr. D signing out. Catch you next week in Thehooks Book.
