Quote of the Week:

The urge to gamble is so universal and its practice is so pleasurable, that I assume it must be evil. ~Heywood Broun

Parlay and the Star System

As promised we will continue from the last ezine. Starting with the parlay cards, you should only play a small amount of your bankroll on parlay cards. In general, I would only suggest to place in action one total unit on your parlay cards until you hit one. One unit might mean $500, $100, $50, or even as low as $10 if you only are betting $11 a game. This way if you hit 60% and miss all your cards then you still break even. Of course if you hit 60% you probably will hit some of your cards. I use this system and hit several cards early in the year and now have my own separate parlay bankroll. I still only bet one unit to two units but now I have separate bankrolls I am working with.

As with a system making straight bets you need a system with the cards and stick to that system. I chose a system and have stuck with it and it has begun to pay off. I put all the 4 hooks and 5 hooks from our site on one card, then I put all the home teams, excluding the total plays, on a card, I put all the college picks on another card, all the NFL picks on a card, all the Hilton picks on a card, all our free picks on a card, all the total plays on a card, and then I put together 5 cards combining the above mixing and matching them. I put into action 12 parlay cards, which might sound like a lot but the total money out of pocket is worth one unit.

Without getting too personal lets say I am betting $110 a game, I do bet each guarantee pick straight up with one unit each, and so I would put $100 total in parlay cards. So I would have $5 to $10 on each card. I have hit on the Hilton picks, the top hook picks, the free picks, the home team picks, and several of the mix/match cards. On the parlay cards I will sometimes drop teams from a list and add some teams that I like but only on the mix and match cards.

Those are some of the examples of how to set up a parlay system to invest in. There are a million other ways but I would strongly suggest that you only invest up to one unit each week, stick with a system, and when you do hit; start another bankroll for parlay betting only. If you coincide your straight bets with your parlay cards and can hit 60% you will find yourself hitting the parlay cards too. Last bit of advice, do not just put all your picks on one card and bet the entire unit. Not too many people are hitting 100% of their picks so your bankroll will shrink rather fast. If you are hitting 100% of your picks, please call me with the information because I could use it.

Next week we will cover the star system.

From The Nose Bleed Section:

Thoughts and Ponders:

Does Dallas really have a chance to make the playoffs? If they beat the Seahawks on MNF then they do but if they lose then it is time for the rookie to get some reps.

Why is Portis not being used in Washington? If you are going to make the trade then you should use the man, besides your passing game sucks Joe, so run the damn ball.

Manning is such a force right now that he actually is making his defense look good. Do not get carried away Colt fans, your defense still is sorry, but offenses right now are so worried about keeping up with you that they are playing out of sync. If Manning ever has a bad day, then we will see if your defense is any good.

Brett is the true iron man. 200 straight starts and counting. This is truly unbelievable. I am not the greatest Packer fan but it would be nice to see him win it all this year and ride off into the sunset.

Thanks Detroit for sucking ---. Drop a few more touchdown passes and people might start thinking you are playing for the chicken hawks.

If George lines up under center this week, then the Cowboys need to bring back Troy. By the way, Jones has looked pretty good at running back; maybe Bill still knows talent when he sees it.

Just The Facts:

We are in 18th place at the National Sports Monitor for combined NFL and College football picks.

We are still in 23rd place at the National Sports Monitor for NFL picks.

Our free picks went 4-2 last week putting our season record to 48-35-1. (58%)

We moved into 2nd place at UHC for College Picks and now sit at 31-18 heading into the last week of the contest. If we can 9-0 with all our free and guaranteed college picks we will finish in 1st place. Odds are against us but you never know. Win or lose, to finish in the top 5 the first year against 250 handicappers has to be considered a great year.

Our Guaranteed picks went 6-4 last week.

Free Picks:

NFL Free Picks:

Atlanta @ Tampa Bay Over 39

We were kicked in the mouth last time these teams played with the over being left on the field as Vick kneeled inside the 10 yard line. Look for both teams to score more than last time, which ended 24-14.

Cincinnati/Baltimore Over 37.5

We like the over because we can see special teams and defensive touchdowns on the horizon in this game. Look for Boller and Palmer to do enough to get this game over 37 points.

College Free Picks:

Virginia Tech +7 @ Miami

We are picking the Hokies even though everyone likes Miami at home this weekend. VA Tech has received no respect all year. This weekend they get their much deserved respect with a straight up victory in Miami.

Virginia Tech/Miami Over 49

The Hurricanes will score and Randall will connect for at least 3 long strikes against on an aggressive defense that will jump the short routes. This will be a great game to watch and we will have the points and look to double the pleasure with the over.

Michigan State/Hawaii Over 72

The Rainbows will score because they are at home but they can’t tackle anyone so they will give up the points against a very good Spartan offense. This total might be over by the end of the 3rd quarter.

Army @ Navy –13

Army had that one good stretch this season while Navy has been solid for most of the year. Navy will be able to score when it wants and will do enough to shut down Army to get the cover.
