Tampa Bay Over 37

Dr. D’s Thoughts And Ponders

The College Bowl season is over and I for one am thankful because I can't pick a winner. I could cry you a river, and some will say I caused the flood in the Truckee River, but I will pass. I will say that the College picks last year were awesome and our NFL Playoffs were down so maybe this year it will be a reversal.

Tampa Bay Over 37

Since the readers of Reno have been enjoying the information for free we thought that we would send this out to Thehooks Book customers. We are 12-6 with this pick.

Tampa Bay/Washington Over 37

Tampa Bay and Washington get together this weekend in Tampa Bay and everyone can only hope the rematch is close to the classic they had on November 13th when Tampa Bay went for 2 points and made it in their 36-35 victory.

The over is only at 37 and I understand that that both defenses are strong and the offenses will not click like they did on November 13th but only 37? Or maybe just maybe I am right and the game will have both teams in the 20’s and the over as an easy play.

The Redskins have scored at least 30 points in their last 3 games and the injuries on the defensive side is starting to look like a MASH unit. Their defense has have given up 20 points each to the Giants and the Eagles the past two weeks. They are hurting on the defensive side and the only way they can win this game is by outscoring Tampa, which I may add is quite possible even though Tampa Bay finished the season as the number one ranked defense.

The Buccaneers have scored 27 points in each of the past two games and their average combined score at home this year has been 42 points. Tampa Bay will be able to move run the ball against the Redskins but more importantly they will be able to throw the ball against them. The player of the game will not be Cadillac Williams but Joey Galloway who will torch the injury riddled secondary of the Redskins.

Take the over and hope that the game resembles the classic they had earlier in the year.

Thoughts and Ponders:

The Rose Bowl Edition by Dr. D.

First and foremost, what a game! They have been hyping this game since the beginning of the football season and not only did it live up to the hype, it exceeded the hype.

How good is Vince Young? Is he the new number 1 pick in the NFL draft?

Vince Young loves big games. Look what he did against Michigan last year in the Rose Bowl. Then look what he did against USC in this year’s Rose Bowl.

Is it me or is the Super Bowl going to be a letdown this year after watching the Rose Bowl?

In fact, when was the last Super Bowl that brought that much hype?

In fact, when was the last Super Bowl that brought that much excitement?

How good is Reggie Bush? Yeah, the “I’m going to make something happen” pitch in the first half wasn’t the brightest of ideas but this kid is good. Texas’s defense probably did the best against him all year and he still had 180 total yards. GOOD.

I could see Bush being a lot like Marshal Faulk in the NFL.

Lendell White! Stay one more year! You stay and your name will be talked about for the Heisman.

Matt Leinart shouldn’t be upset he stayed for his senior season and didn’t win a 3rd National Championship. This is a man who has a 37-2 career record winning 34 in a row, a Heisman winner as well as a 2 time National Champion. This is a man who could of easily left last year seeking fame and fortune in the NFL and would have got it but decided to stay for his senior season. I have nothing but respect and admiration for Matt Leinart. A lot of these kids nowadays jump for the money but Matt didn’t. He knew no matter what happened this year, the fame and fortune would still be waiting for him. Don’t hang your head Matt, you are the biggest winner of them all.

Instant Classic on ESPN Classic.

It is a little sad that the college football season is over.

The NFL playoffs start this week but it’s hard to get into the games especially after the Rose Bowl.

Question of the Week: Who will win Rookie of the Year next year in the NFL? Young, Bush or Leinart?

Those three players are going to be fun to watch next year on Sundays, that’s for sure.

Another college season is in the books and it went out with a bang. Another 9 months, and it will return. But until then, we have some good NFL left to watch. Take care everybody and until next week, enjoy some good NFL action this weekend. This is the Dr., signing out!
