College 4 Hook Fresno St/Oregon OVER 59 Fresno St. travels up to visit the Ducks this weekend. Both teams are coming off victories last week, which should lead us to a great game to watch. Both teams come into this game with a lot of confidence in their high-powered offenses. Neither team is one that likes to sit on the ball. It's all about how many points you can put on the board for these two teams. The old belief that the last one to score wins the game will probably come into play this weekend. This should be a shootout from the beginning. Both teams pass the ball quite well, so look for a lot bombs in the air this weekend up in Oregon.
Oregon 37 - Fresno St. 34 Great game from start to finish. At first the OVER looked a little scary. Both defenses were making stops. Then the 2nd quarter rolled around and the offenses got comfortable and moved the ball. After halftime the Ducks took over on offense and put some more points on the board. In the end, the OVER wasn't covered till about 5 minutes to go in the game but still an easy OVER.
College 4 Hook Florida Atlantic @ Minnesota -30 Florida Atlantic travels to Minnesota this week to take on yet another tough opponent. Will they be able to keep it close? Probably not. Minnesota is running the ball almost better than any other Division I school so far this year. They have ran all over their first two opponents including a 59-24 thrashing of Colorado St. last week. Minnesota is one of the stronger teams in the Big 10 no matter what people think or not. Florida Atlantic is kind of a lax game for the Gophers but I don't see them thinking that way. Minnesota is out to prove to everyone, they are a team to contend with in the Big 10 and one way to prove that is to put a hurting on a team like Florida Atlantic. They beat up Colorado St. last weekend so what makes you think they won't do the same to Florida Atlantic? Take Minnesota and the points!
Minnesota 46 - Florida Atlantic 7 An easy home game for the Golden Gophers as they had this team destroyed by halftime. The second string gave up a touchdown near the end but even that didn't scare the spread. The Gophers took care of business and are ready for the Boilermakers to come to town this week.
College 4 Hook Toledo -28 @ Temple This game should play out like last week when Toledo pounded Western Michigan. If it was a home game for Toledo this would be another 5 hook for me. The offense is clicking with Gradkowski looking like the MAC Player of the Year. Toledo might hang 70 on Temple just like Bowling Green did to them last year. Temple only gained 49 yards last week against Wisconsin, the same Wisconsin team that gave up 35 first half points to Bowling Green. Temple will score maybe 1 to 2 touchdowns but not nearly enough to cover the spread.
Toledo 42 - Temple 17 Toledeo let the hapless Temple offense roll up 350 yards of offense. This should have been a blowout but instead the Rockets went through the motions and cost us a back door cover. Even with the poor display on defense the offense of Toledeo should have hung 60 on the weak Temple defense. Even with the 42-10 lead you could feel the back door coming. Ouch!
College 4 Hook Oregon State @ Louisville -13.5 The Cardinals have had two weeks to stew over how badly they played in the second half against Kentucky. They will not relax with a big lead the rest of the season and will throttle the Beavers this weekend. Louisville will get it going and put up the numbers we are used to. I expect them to hit at least the 50 point mark. Oregon State goes on the road for the first time this season with an unproven quarterback. They will realize how much they miss Anderson this weekend. This might get real ugly.
Louisville 63 - Oregon State 27 Oregon State jumped out to a 10-0 lead then the ---- hit the fan. Louisville dominated this game and showed the rest of the country what they are capable of doing. The Cardinals went on a 56-3 run and left no doubt about who was the best on the field.
College 3 Hook Miami @ Clemson +8 I really like the Tigers at home in this spot. This is a gritty team that believes in their quarterback and believes it can win no matter the situation. The Situation points to a struggling offense for the Hurricanes but a great defense. BUT, they had a great defense last year and Louisville put 38 up on them and Clemson beat them in Miami. Florida State might have been a test for the offense but they did not test the defense like Clemson will this week. What is the Money Line at?
Clemson 30 - Miami 36 This was the third straight game that the team showed character and quite frankly they should have won this game. This team needs to play with the urgency and poise it shows in the second half for the entire game. A great cover for us and almost hit the money line.
College 3 Hook Connecticut @ Georgia Tech -15 Connecticut travels down the coast to take on Georgia Tech. Both teams are starting the season 2-0, but only one will be 3-0 after this game. Connecticut played Liberty last week and destroyed them 59-0. The week before that they played Buffalo and put a hurting on them as well. G.T. on the other hand has had a tough first two games. They had a major upset against Auburn at Auburn and then traveled home last week and took care of UNC. Though both teams are 2-0, only G.T. has played quality teams and that gives them a major advantage. This game will be close for a quarter and then the experience of G.T. will show and by the end, the Yellow Jackets will be 3-0 with a big victory over UCONN. Take Georgia Tech in this one. A three touchdown victory should be an easy one.
Georgia Tech 28 - UCONN 13 At first this game looked a bit scary. UCONN jumped out on top early and looked good. G.T. held it together, and pulled out a straight up victory. The 15 point spread was tied so we were able to get the push. Victory is always sweet, but we will take a push over a loss any day.
College 3 Hook East Carolina @Wake Forest -12.5 East Carolina travels to play Wake Forest after a bye week. East Carolina looks to stay undefeated while W.F. looks to rebound off their loss last week to Nebraska. East Carolina started off the season with a victory against Duke 2 weeks ago. Wake Forest on the other hand, had some trouble last week in Nebraska losing 31-3. Even though Wake lost last week, this is the stronger team. Duke is not a strong team and E. Carolina had some trouble with them. Wake has played two quality teams in their first two games. Even though they have struggled, especially last week, they are the better team. They will have confidence playing at home and should have a halfway easy time against E. Carolina. A bye week this early in the season will affect E. Carolina in this game. Wake Forest will take advantage of the 2 week layoff by E. Carolina and will win this game by at least 2 TD’s. Take Wake. They will rebound quite nicely after a tough week last week.
Wake Forest 44 - East Carolina 34 Questions arise here as I wonder if W.F. is bad or East Carolina is getting better. Wake should have handled this team much more easily than a 10 point victory. Wake is struggling this year and it showed this game. Yes they should be happy with a victory but not too excited cause this game should have been a big victory.
College 3 Hook Louisville/Oregon St. OVER 59 Louisville travels to Oregon St. to take on the Beavers. Oregon St. played a hard fought game last week against Boise St. and took home a victory while Louisville had the week off. Louisville is out to prove that they do belong as National Title contenders even though their showing 2 weeks ago against Kentucky didn't show that. They looked like the highflying team of last year in the first half but just disappeared in the 2nd. Oregon St. had a great comeback last week against Boise and pulled out a three-point victory. The main thing to look for in this game is points. Both teams are capable of scoring many points. Neither defense is that top notch so both offenses should be able to thrive. Both defenses though, are capable of making an impact play and possibly being able to score points as well, so watch for that as well. No matter what you look for, you will find points galore up on the scoreboard. Louisville has a lot to prove so look for them not to let up at all. Take the OVER in this one. Both teams are capable of plenty of points.
Louisville 63 - Oregon St. 27 The Cardinals covered the OVER by themselves. The OVER in the game was done by the 3rd quarter. The Cardinals offense looked unstoppable. Even the second stringers looked good. This is a tough team who can put some points up on the board in a hurry and they did against the Beavers.
College 3 Hook Alabama @ South Carolina +2 Alabama travels to South Carolina to take on Steve Spurrier and his S.C. Gamecocks. Both teams are out to prove they can compete in the SEC. This line kind of surprises me. Now granted, Alabama won last week and SC lost but their games were quite different. Alabama pulled out a come from behind victory against a non ranked opponent. SC on the other hand, played top 10 ranked Georgia in Georgia and in fact almost pulled off the upset, only losing by 2. You know Spurrier is going have his team fired up for this game. He doesn't like to lose at all let alone back to back games. And god forbid they lose at home. This game will be a tough, hard fought contest no matter what. But SC will cover this spread and should win the game outright. Take SC and the points. They will win this game!
Alabama 37 South Carolina 14 What a dumb pick this was. Who would have thought a Spurrier team would get destroyed like this at home. The Gamecocks looked horrible and the frustration showed on the coach's face. The Gamecocks better pick it up because they looked like crap this week and they are in a conference where playing like crap leads to bad blowout losses.
