Kansas City @ Denver O/U 48 Ready, set, GO! This should be a very entertaining game to watch. Denver will look to Bailey to shut down – who the hell is he going to cover? KC has no go to WR. They count on their stud TE and superman Holmes to run the show. Denver might be better off in the long run with the trade but not in this match up. KC showed flashes of a better defense in the preseason. Flashes in preseason do not count. This team is on the road and the defense will only be chasing the flashes of the Broncos running by them. KC will keep it close by scoring points and winning the special teams battle. It seems that Dante Hall just loves to play against these guys. Yo, Coach Shanahan, don’t kick it his way. Spotlight on Sunday Night will be entertaining and high scoring.
Okay, Bailey can cover Gonzalez and Kansas City still has no DEFENSE. Total was helped by Plummer playing like Plummer. Holmes is still the man and look for games to go flying over when Kansas City takes the field.
Tennessee -3 @ Miami Miami just got a new RB today. Who gives a crap? This team is in trouble. Glad they signed Feely to the big contract only to have Fielder running the show still. What the hell is going on? This team is in trouble and to tell you the truth they have other things more important to worry about with all the disaster in the area. Tennessee on the other hand expects a break out season from Calico and they will get that but more importantly, Brown brings speed to the backfield that George has not been able to supply. If Brown can hold up over the season this team might just over take the favorite Colts in the division. QB McNair is a special player that only comes around once in a while. His numbers are not the greatest but the intangibles and the toughness he brings to this team is much more important. Look for the better Coach, better QB and better RB to prevail.
The Dolphins are in trouble! Titans ran all over them and did not even need McNair to pass the ball. Miami can’t run or stop the run, not a good mix for the NFL.
Dallas Cowboys @ Minnesota Vikings -4 Bill Parcels took the Cowboys from a 5-11 team in 2002 to a 10-7 team in 2003 and they made the playoffs before being ousted by Carolina. The Vikings on the other hand started off 6-0 before collapsing at the end of the season with a last second loss to the Cardinals that knocked them out of the playoffs. The Vikings are looking for vengeance this year. They believe this is their year. Even Parcels himself believes the Vikings are the 2nd or 3rd best team in the NFC. This isn’t a good game for the Cowboys to start the season. Their secondary is beat up and is working with young backups. So the first game of the season, Randy Moss is the WR they have deal with. The Cowboys are traveling to Minnesota to deal with one of the deadliest WR in the game and Randy Moss has fed on the Cowboys in his career. In the 4 games the Vikings have played the Cowboys since Moss has been in the league he has had 8 touchdowns each coming with an average of almost 40 yards! Remember, Jerry Jones passed on Moss in the draft and Moss vowed to make them pay every time the two teams meet. He has done a pretty good job so far. Some trends to look at for this game: Since ’92, the Cowboys are 42% ATS in road games including 3-5 last year. Another stat to look at is in their last 9 road games where the Cowboys were underdogs between 3.5 and 7 points, they are a dismal 11% ATS. With the Cowboys coming to Minnesota struggling in the secondary, Dante Culpepper and Randy Moss are going to enjoy this first week of the season. Minnesota is the pick in this one!
Daunte Culpepper threw 5 TD passes in the Vikings victory over Dallas. Dallas controlled the ball in the first half but only managed 10 points on the scoreboard and that includes a TD with 5 seconds left in the half. Culpepper threw 2 TD passes to Moss who only had 4 catches. Today belonged to Culpepper as his 5 TD passes were a career high. Minnesota did it all against Dallas today and won the game with ease.
Baltimore Ravens –3 @ Cleveland Browns One name scares the hell out of any Cleveland Browns fan and unfortunately for them, that one name is coming to town the first week of the season: Jamal Lewis. Mr. Lewis as the Browns fans should call him, manhandled the Browns last season with his rushing. Not only did he break the single game rushing record against them in the second week of the season, the Ravens beat them handily both times during the season; 33-13 and a 35-0 thrashing at Cleveland! A new QB walks the sidelines now for the Browns in Jeff Garcia coming over from the 49ers so he didn’t really feel the effect of Mr. Lewis and the Raven’s thrashings last year. Maybe that’s a good thing for the Browns. Maybe having someone who doesn’t know what Jamal Lewis looks like from the back might help their confidence against the Ravens. We know Garcia is on offense but last year it didn’t matter if you were on the field or on the sidelines for the Browns, you were always seeing the back of Jamal as he ran for another touchdown. Can the Browns forget about last year against the Ravens and prove to themselves and everyone else around the league that Jamal Lewis is stoppable? We don’t see it happening here. Some Trends: Against conference opponents, the Ravens are 60% ATS. Another trend to look at is the Ravens are 61% ATS against teams with losing records. It’s another long game for the Browns against the Ravens this week. Take the Ravens!
Jamal Lewis had 57 yards rushing in this game. That’s only about 200 and some change less than what he had against them last year in the first game. Ravens turned the ball over 3 times and the Browns took advantage. Jeff Garcia had a touchdown pass and a rushing TD as the Browns got revenge from last year’s beatings.
Indianapolis @ New England O/U 44 Revenge, Revenge and the so called new rules, old rules, looking to be enforced against the thug DBs should help this game go flying over the total. The only way the Colts get revenge is to outscore this team. Look for Wayne to come up big as NE will try to stop Harrison with double coverage. If NE does not double cover Harrison he might wind up with 15 catches or 10 calls for defensive pass interference. The Colts can talk all they want about getting better on defense but the only way this team makes the next step is for Manning to step up and throw the crap out of it. Don’t forget about Brady. He might throw for 4 TDs himself. Points will be flying and the best trend to watch for is that the Colts play over on the road when they are getting more than three points. They are getting 3.5 and the way the public loves Super Bowl Teams it might end up at 4 points.
Great game to start the year. Both defenses exposed and both offenses did not disappoint. Take away the turnovers and the Colts win this one.
Green Bay @ Chicago No team has dominated the Bears more over the last 12 years than the Green Bay Packers. The last time the Packers lost to the Bears was week 5 in the 2001 season. And believe it or not, it was in Green Bay. Brett Favre loves playing against the Bears and Bears hate to see him. Since 92’, the Bears are 4-20 against the Packers ATS! To make it worse, the Bears have lost 10 straight homes games to the Pack. Thank goodness for the Bears, they are playing in Green Bay…oh wait; Brett Favre doesn’t lose to the Bears at home either. The Bears lost last week to the Lions and the Pack beat the defending NFC champions by 10 in Carolina. Brett Favre was 20-4 in his career against the Bears. So when the Bears came to Green Bay everyone thought this was an easy victory. It was, for the Bears. The Bears stopped Green Bay’s 7 game win streak against Chicago. Momentum was the key factor in this game as Green’s fumble on the 5-yard line that was scooped up by Mike Brown and returned 95 yards for a touchdown. So going into half, the Bears were up 14-3 instead of down 10-7. After the half, the Bears cruised to victory.
Indianapolis @ Tennessee O/U POINTS! POINTS! POINT! When these two teams meet, its point galore. The funny thing about this two point scoring teams, when they play in Indy, they can’t score a point to save their lives. Last year in Indy, the Colts won 33-7 but didn’t cover the over by 3 points and the year before that; they didn’t cover by 9 points. But when they meet in Tennessee, points flow like water. Last year, both teams combined for 56 and covered comfortably by 9.5 points. Look for the trend to continue with points flying everywhere and the over being covered easily. Indy likes to put points on the board no matter where it is but for some reason, the points come a little easier in Tennessee

James ran for 100 yards in the second half alone and helped the Colts outscore the Titans 28-7 in the second half. Indy struggled in the first half but came out firing on all cylinders in the second half to shut down the Titans and cover the spread as well as the over.
Indianapolis @ Tennessee This has turned out to be a great rivalry between these two teams. Tennessee and Indy have always been picked the last few years to win AFC South. Indy won it last year and damn near made it to the Super Bowl. Tennessee wants the crown back and wants a crack at the Super Bowl this year. You are looking at reigning Co-MVP’s playing in this game with Indy’s Manning and Tennessee’s McNair. This looks to be a great game, which it usually has been in past years. Indy likes to play the spoiler on the road, especially as a dog. Last year they were 4-1 ATS as road dogs and opened the season this year with an ATS win against the Super Champion Patriots. Tennessee had their game moved up a day against the Dolphins but it did not bother them as they beat the Fins quite easily. Another thing to look at is Tennessee’s back is questionable for this game and that is one reason the line for the game has dropped almost 2 points from 3 to now 1.5. Look for Indy to prevail in this one. Indy is a Super Bowl favorite and don’t want to start the season 0-2.

New York Jets @ San Diego Points will be flying around in San Diego and most of them will come on the ground. Martin and Tomlinson will score 3 TDs a piece and both go over 125 yards rushing. Look for Pennington to find Coles more this week and Brees to play another solid game. Palmer had his way with the Jets defense and Brees is more experienced than Palmer. Does not matter, both teams will run, run, run, and then when everyone sucks up, BOOM! Touchdown through the air, play action is a beautiful thing.
Neither team can play defense so this looked like a for sure over which it was. Kick off returns for touchdowns; passing touchdowns and rushing touchdowns. You name it, it happened in this game. Even Doug Flutie scored. You know when that happens; the game is an over without a doubt!
Put the pigskin in the endzone Minnesota. Throw the ball to Moss in the redzone. Don't fumble in the redzone. Don't comit a penalty on touchdown runs.
Colts/Green Bay over 48.5
The Colts are coming off an impressive win in Tennessee last week while the Packers struggled at home against the Bears and were beat quite handily. This week, the Packers are heading into the RCA dome needing a win. Packers win by scoring points. The Colts are very similar to the Packers in that they need points to win as well. Both quarterbacks are looking to have solid games while the running game may be on the Packer’s side. Green ran well last week in the loss to the Bears, while James for the Colts ran for 124 yards but may miss this game because of a hamstring injury. Dominick Rhodes will take James’ place if he can’t go. Rhodes can run the ball quite well but he is no James or Green. Look for this game to go back and forth with touchdowns, field goals, and possibly some defensive touchdowns to make this an easy over.
This game almost went over in the first quarter. A game where two of the game’s best QBs played and played well. Neither defense showed up to play and the points just added up and the over was covered by halftime!
Packers @ Colts –6
Colts are Super Bowl contenders while the Packers looked like contenders as well after the first week, but after last week’s loss to the Bears, they are trying to find themselves. The Packers looked lost on the field last week and that was at home! Now they have to travel to Indy and play in the RCA Dome. The Colts can win on the road but are even better at home. The Packers on the other hand struggle in domes. They are 1-8 ATS in their last 9 dome games. This is a tough team on grass outside in the cold but when they get in a dome, they lack the speed to be a solid team. Look for the Colts to use their speed to get past the Packers this week.
Quarterbacks ruled this game and Manning outshined Favre by just a little bit. Manning threw 5 TD passes to Favre’s 4. A fumble late in the game by the Packers ruled out any chance of a comeback for the Packers as the Colts added a late TD to make this an easy cover.
Minnesota/Chicago over 44
If Minnesota could score red zone touchdowns, they would have destroyed the Eagles on Monday night. Unfortunately, a fumble, a holding call and just down right bad play calling hurt any touchdown chances. All they had to do was throw to Randy Moss in the red zone and they would have had 3 more touchdowns. Look for the Vikings to analyze their game film this week and realize what they need to do to score TD’s. The Vikings are back home where points flow like water. The Bears on the other hand, are coming off an upset victory over the Packers. Their running game looked tough and their defense wasn’t too bad either. They lost Mike Brown for the season, which hurts their secondary. This isn’t a good thing when you are playing the Vikings. Look for the Vikings to pass the ball around quite easily and put up points. The Bears will put up some points as well because the Vikings defense isn’t the greatest…. look for this game to go over
What the hell is wrong with the Vikings when they get in the red zone? They struggled again this week inside the red zone again. Muffed field goal, missed field goal, fumble, etc… There is another 13 points they should have had. A late touchdown by the Bears help make the over cover but in actuality, this should have been a real easy cover.
Pittsburgh @ Miami –1
Where is Miami’s offense? Where was Pittsburgh’s offense last week? Now you have to admit Baltimore’s defense is one of the toughest in the league so that gives the Steelers a little slack. Unfortunately for the Steelers, they are traveling to Miami where points aren’t easy to come by either. If Miami had an offense, they would be 2-0. Their defense is tough and kept them in the game last week against the Bengals. The Steelers lost their QB Maddox for 6 weeks and their 1st round draft pick is starting his first game. He looked all right in his clean up roll last week but lets remember he was going against the second team of the Ravens. This will be a low scoring game where the team that has the better defense wins. The Dolphins are at home and their defense is top notch and will take it to the Steelers. Look for this to be a rough and rugged game but the Fins will come out on top for their first win of the year.
Slop! How could they play on that field? That’s true football. The Dolphins are in trouble. It doesn’t matter that two of their games have been affected by hurricanes, they have no offense. Feely is not the answer to anything and without Williams in the backfield; there is no rushing game. Last time the Dolphins had this bad of a rushing offense, they had a QB by the name of Marino. If the Dolphins keep it up, they are going to have a tough decision to make: Do they choose a RB or QB with the first pick in next year’s draft?
San Francisco +10.5 @ Seattle This is Seattle’s first home game of the year after two tough road wins. San Fran covered the spread last week and almost won straight up. Dorsey looked good last week and Barlow showed why Hearst was let go. Barlow needs to run the ball well again this week against the Seahawks. The Seahawks didn’t look very solid last week on offense and their defense won the game for them against Tampa Bay. They won’t be that lucky this week against S.F. Though S.F. doesn’t have the big names like the old days, they can still put points on the scoreboard and keep games close. The Seahawks need to keep the 49ers defense on the field to win this game but they like to score points fast as well. Everyone knows the best way to beat the 49ers is to keep the offense off the field. It doesn’t matter if you are talking about the early 80’s with Montana and Rice or the 90’s with Young and Rice or last year with Garcia and Owens or even this year with Dorsey and whoever, the Niners can score and that’s how they stay in games. The spread is too high for this game. The Seahawks may win the game but the 49ers will cover the spread easily.
What an embarrassment for the 49ers! They had not been shutout since 1976! Well, the Seahawks proved to the league they are for real and going to be tough to beat at home. We thought after two tough road games, the Seahawks might be a little tired and the 49ers would at least keep it close. But when you turn over the ball and let teams start inside their own 20-yard line, no one can win or even cover. What a thumping!
Indianapolis –3.5 @ Jacksonville Jacksonville is for real folks. After beating division foe Tennessee last weekend, they find themselves atop the division at 3-0. The Colts are right behind them at 2-1. The Colts don’t want to lose this game and fall two games behind the Jags. No team has been able to run the ball against the Jags. Does that bode well for the Colts? In actuality it does. The Colts don’t need to run the ball to win as they showed in the Green Bay game. When you have a QB like Manning, why run the ball. If the Colts pass the ball against the Jags like they did against the Packers, this should be an easy cover for the Colts.
Manning found a way to take the Colts to victory. The Jags showed everyone around the league they are for real. They held the offensive minded Colts at bay most of the game until Manning decided to show the Jags what he is capable of doing. A great game to watch and good cover for the Colts.
New England @ Buffalo Under 35.5 We all know the Bills cannot put the football in the end zone. So, does that mean the Bills are a for sure under? No, but against the Patriots it usually is a good bet. Both teams have quality defenses. The Patriots have no problem working the clock and scoring a touchdown. The Bills would love to score a touchdown! The Bill’s defense keeps them in games but if their offense could score touchdowns, they would probably be undefeated. Look for both defenses to dominate and possibly the team with the most field goals wins. The last time these two teams went OVER in a game, we have to go back to the 90’s!
Who told both defenses to not show up in the first half? The Bills scored almost more points in the first half of this game than they had all year. The second half was more like the games of old for both these teams with only 14 points scored in the half. Unfortunately, they scored a combined 34 in the first half and the under was no good.
New York Jets –5.5 @ Miami Miami is just plain horrible. They cannot catch a break so far this year. First, Ricky Williams retires. Then, David Boston hurts his knee and is out for the year. And then all these hurricanes are totally screwing with their schedule. But enough excuses for the Fish, they have no offense! A.J. Feeley is horrible. The Dolphins have like 5 running backs and they are all horrible. The only reason they stay in games is because of their defense. The Miami defense gets a test this week playing against the Jets. The Jets offense is clicking on all cylinders right now. Pennington is looking great, now that he knows it’s his team and Curtis Martin is running over everyone. Look for the Jets to continue their offensive skills this week against the Dolphins. The Fins will need to score points to stay in this game and as we all know, they can’t score. J-E-T-S, JETS, JETS, JETS!!
The Jets really didn’t do too much in this game to win on offense. Defense on the other hand was a different story. The Jets forced 4 turnovers and returned an INT for a TD. Other than that, there wasn’t much offense from either team. They say defenses win championships and today the Jets’ defense won the game and made the cover.
New Orleans –3 @ Arizona The Saints pulled off a victory last week against the Rams in St. Louis while the Cards lost to the Falcons in a baseball game score of 6-3. We know the Rams are not playing well right now but going into St. Louis against Mark Bulger who had never lost at home and pull off a victory is pretty good. The Cards have kept games close but really haven’t proved anything except they can’t score points. Come on, 3 points! How many times did the Falcons give the ball away and you can only score 3 points? The Saints proved they could be contenders this year even with Deuce on the bench for a few more games. If the Saints want to stay in contention for the division crown they need to win this week. The Cards will make a game of it, but in the end, the Saints will pull away and cover easily.
Number 22 showed up to play today for the Cardinals. Not only did Mr. Smith run for over 100 yards, he also had a TD run as well as a TD pass! Honestly, he looked like the running back of old. The Saints were outplayed in this game. The Cardinals have played tough all year and their toughness paid off today with their first victory of the year. If the Saints want to be contenders, not only can’t they lose games like this one, they can’t get blown out like they did.
Oakland –2.5 @ Houston Kerry Collins gets his first start as a Raider this week. He makes the Raiders a deep ball team. Rich Gannon is a great QB but he cannot throw the ball deep. Collins, on the other hand can. The Raiders are no longer all about Rice and Brown. This year, they have some deep threats in Porter and Curry. Collins makes the Raiders a better team. Before, the defenses knew a 20-yard pass wasn’t happening too often with Gannon in the pocket, but with Collins, they have to stay on their toes. Houston is coming off a great victory over the Chiefs last week. Houston is going to come into the game with a big high after their first win of the year, but with Collins behind the helm for the Raiders, this is going to be a tough game for the Texans. Look for the Raiders to play well with Collins running the offense and pull off a victory in Houston.
Texans ruled the day today. They outplayed, out hustled and most important, outscored the Raiders for an easy victory today. Carr threw the ball all over the Raiders secondary. The Raiders looked like they were heading in the right direction after last weeks victory over the Bucs but now look in trouble again after losing to the Texans.
JACKSONVILLE -2.5 @ SAN DIEGO Yes, we all know San Diego thumped Tennessee last week but lets not get carried away now, they still are the Chargers. The Titans are beat up and the Chargers took advantage and looked halfway decent. The Jaguars played their hearts out against the Colts and were beaten by Manning. The Jaguars are still a solid team. They have a solid defense and they proved it against the Colts. The Colts looked good on a few drives but that was about it against the Jags. The Jags are one of the top teams at stopping the run and look for them to shut down Tomlinson. For the Chargers to win, Drew Brees is going to have to throw the ball. Brees is too unpredictable to rely on. Look for the Jags to stop the run and make Brees beat them but it won’t happen. The Jags will win this one.
Are the Chargers for real? That’s two weeks in a row they have come out and smoked a team. Last week it was Tennessee and this week Jacksonville. The Jags came out flat and looked like they were still down from last week’s heart breaker to the Colts. In actuality, they looked like the Jags from years past. They tried to get back in the game but they dug too big of a hole to begin with falling behind 21-0.
Minnesota/Houston Over 49.5 Both teams can score points easily, but can their defenses stop each other? NO! Both these teams are dome teams, which means faster, quicker players, which means more points. Can the Texans defense stop Culpepper and Moss? They did a pretty good job against the Raiders but Collins to Porter really isn’t the same thing. Culpepper to Moss could be a dangerous combination. Lets not forget that the Texans are pretty tough on offense as well. They have put up quite a few points in their games this year. They put up 30 against the Raiders and 24 against the Chiefs. They can score some points and so can the Vikings. This could be an old fashioned shootout in Texas. Look for points to fly all over the place!
After the first half, this game looked like a for sure under. But we all knew the offenses would take over and the Vikings D would eventually give way to the Texans and let them score points. The Vikings played consistent all game on offense and their defense failed again in the fourth quarter and David Carr shined once again in the 4th and brought his team back and took the game into OT. By the end of the game, this was an easy over
BUFFALO @ NEW YORK JETS -6.5 Buffalo looked good in the first half against the Pats last week but looked like the Bills of old in the second half. They put up points and stayed up with the Pats in the first half with a 17-17 tie but in the second half, all Pats. The Bills are back to the Bills of old and now they travel to New York this week. The Jets didn’t play their best ball last week against the Fins but still pulled out a victory. The first two weeks, the Jets needed offense to win but last week it was all defense for them. This should scare the hell out of the Bills this week. The Jets have an offense and a defense? What happens if both the offense and the defense show up for this game? Look for both to show up at home and put a hurting on the Bills.
For 3 quarters, the Bills looked like the hapless Bills of old. Their defense was keeping the Jets from exploding the game wide open and their offense wasn’t scoring. The Jets looked like they would win this game easily and then BANG! Buffalo scores. No big deal and then BANG, Bledsoe throws a perfect pass and the Bills are leading! Pennington takes his Jets down the field where they win the game with a field goal but don’t cover the spread. The inconsistency of the Bills costs the Jets the cover!
MINNESOTA -4 @ HOUSTON Houston has won 2 in a row for the first time in team history. David Carr had to get a haircut to prove it. Minnesota is coming off a bye week and should be well rested. Will it be 3 in a row for the Texans? If they can stop Culpepper and Moss, they have a chance. One problem though, they can’t! It takes a lot to stop Moss. With a week off, hopefully the Vikings have realized that when they get in the red zone, its damn near impossible to stop Moss. The jump ball pass to Moss in the end zone is almost worth 7 points each time. Look for the Vikings to realize that Moss is their go to guy and go to him quite a bit this weekend and they will end the Texans 2 game win streak!
Can you say try and give the game away? For 3 quarters, the Vikings controlled the ball and score. Then for some reason, their D gave way to David Carr and Houston was back in the game. Then Vikings throw a 50-yard TD pass to Moss and all Viking’s fans can breath a sigh of relief. But not so fast as Houston scores the last 14 points to send it to OT. Usually in OT, any team favored by more than 3 is a for sure loss. But lucky for the Vikings they have wide receivers that can catch the ball and run away from defenders as they score a very rare OT touchdown to cover the spread and win the game!
NEW YORK GIANTS @ DALLAS -3.5 How about them Giants? Who would have thought they would be 3-1 right now? Probably more people would have thought Manning would be starting right now rather than the Giants having 3 wins in a row. The Giants went into Green Bay last week and came away with a win. We all know the Packers aren’t playing well right now but still that’s a huge victory. The Cowboys are coming off a bye week and should be ready to take on one of their rivals. The Cowboys are ready for the Giants. But are the Giants ready for the Cowboys? The Giants are looking for 4 in a row but have a tough game ahead of them with the rested Cowboys. Look for the Cowboys to come out refreshed and looking for a whooping. The Giants will play tough but the week’s rest for the Cowboys will be the final factor.
Look who is 4-1? The Giants came into Dallas and looked flat in the first half but totally dominated the second half shutting down the Cowboys. The Giants outscored the Cowboys 20-0 in the second half. The fumble at the end of the half for the Cowboys which lead to a Giant’s FG to make it 10-6 at halftime must have deflated the Cowboys. They came out and didn't look like the same team as the first half. The Giants came out and controlled the second half which lead to an easy victory.
Carolina @ Philadelphia -9 The Eagles are firing on all cylinders. The Panthers are the walking wounded. Carolina has both running backs hurt and Steve Smith is out. So all their offensive weapons they had last year with their Super Bowl bound team are sitting on the bench in street clothes this year. Not a good sign when you have to play a rested Phili team who has destroyed every team they’ve played. Phili has one of the best track records in the NFL coming off a bye week. They are a smooth 13-4 after a bye week. Look for the trend to continue as they destroy the wounded Panthers this week.
The Eagles come out of the gates and destroy teams and then just coast to victory and this game was no different. The Eagles came out and completely dominated the Panthers in the first half and their defense destroyed the Panthers in the second half. Another easy victory for the Eagles and once again another cover.
San Francisco/ New York Jets OVER 43 The last two weeks the Jets have had trouble putting points on the board. Of course, the last two teams they have played were the Dolphins and the Bills. Both those teams are known for their defenses and not their offenses. But this week, they are playing the 49ers that don’t have a defense. The Cardinals scored 28 points on them. The Niners last week realized that if they run no huddle, Tim Rattay is an amazing QB. Even at the end of the Rams game two weeks ago, they looked solid. Look for the Niners to be able to put up points but at the same time give up points. This could be a fly over cover!
Everyone thought neither defense would show up in this game and points galore would be scored. Everyone knows the Niners can’t stop anybody from scoring and the Jets can move the ball around quite easily. And even though the Jets have a tough defense, everyone knows the Niners can put points on the board. Well, neither happened for both teams. Maybe if the Niners could have scored in the second half, this would have been an easy cover but that didn’t happen and a 22-14 score ended up a TD short of covering.
St Louis/ Tampa Bay OVER 42.5 The Rams are coming off two straight big wins. The Bucs are coming off their first win of the season. Brian Griese is starting at QB for the Bucs and he is out to show everyone that last week wasn’t a fluke. Look for him to be throwing the ball around and getting his WR’s involved. The Rams are coming off an amazing comeback victory over the Seahawks. They looked like the greatest show on turf last week putting up 33 points including 23 in the last quarter and overtime. Look for the points to be flowing in this game.
When the Rams are at home, its hard not to take the over. Over the last few weeks, the so-called greatest show on turf has actually been showing up. They have been putting up points and winning games. Tampa Bay won their first game last week with Brian Griese at QB. Griese for some reason makes the Bucs a scoring team. And when you play the Rams at home, you have to score points just to stay in the game. The Bucs did that tonight as did the Rams. Points were put on the board and the over was covered easily in the early 4th quarter.
Seattle/New England OVER 42 Both these teams are known for their defense but they both have solid offenses. Some people may believe that this a defensive battle but others see it as an offensive game. This could be a game like the Colts/Pats game to start off the season. Both offenses can move up and down the field with ease and both will look to score quickly. Defenses will come to play only at the end of the game when it’s a close score but after 3 quarters of scoring, the over will already be covered. Seattle realized last week that 27 points sometimes isn’t enough points to win a game. This week will be the same for both teams. They both should realize that somewhere in the 30 point range would be the winner.
We all know both defenses are tough. We all know both offenses are tough. It was just a matter of which one was going to show up. Well, it was both offenses that showed up. In the first half, the Pats offense showed up and the Seahawks offense didn’t. In the second half, both offenses showed up and the points showed up on the scoreboard. The Pats won the game 30-20 to win their 20th in a row.
San Diego/Atlanta OVER 42 Whatever happened to the Chargers last two weeks is working wonders. This team is putting up points galore. The Falcons lost for the first time last week. The Falcons have to realize that scoring 10 points a game will not win many games. Their defense is keeping them in games but look for Tomlinson and Brees to pick apart the Falcons. On the other hand, Vick should be able to handle the Chargers defense by passing the ball as well as running it. The Chargers realize they don’t have the most solid defense and have to rely on their offense to win games. Even though the Falcons haven’t scored many points this season, they will run the ball well as well as see Vick throw it around the Chargers’ secondary. This game should be a good one filled with many points.
All that needs to be said in this game is clock management and use of timeouts. If San Diego knew how to use their timeouts not only would this game have gone over, they actually might have had a chance to win the game. But lets not forget it is the Chargers and they are known for their bonehead mistakes…remember Ryan Leaf? Atlanta wins the game 21-20 and the over is missed by a point!
Philadelphia -7 @ Cleveland How good are the Eagles? They are dominating everyone they play no matter if they are at home or away. The scary part is, they really haven’t played a full game yet. What that means is they seem to dominate a team so bad in the first half; they just coast in the second half. It would be real scary if they played an entire game! This week, the Eagles travel to Cleveland to play the Browns. The Browns are coming off a serious beating of rival Cincinnati but that won’t happen this week. The Eagles will dominate this game and send Cleveland to a big loss.
At times it looked like the Eagles dominated the game. Other times, the Browns looked like they dominated the game. By the end of the game, it looked like the Browns might pull off the upset. They had the momentum but the Eagles showed their toughness and won the game. Down the stretch of the game, there were some bogus roughing the passer calls, which lead to the Browns scoring a touchdown with 30 seconds to go and cost the Eagles the cover!
Denver -6 @ Cincinnati The Broncos are coming off a thrashing of the hapless Oakland Raiders while the Bengals were thumped by the Browns. These are two teams going in opposite directions. The Broncos are running away with the AFC West division and seem to have found a new running back in Droughns. The Bengals don’t look like the same team as last year. They are heading in the wrong direction and playing the Broncos isn’t going to help. Carson Palmer is having a so-so year but maybe it is time to bring Kitna back? Look for the Broncos to continue on the winning road and Droughns to run threw the Bengals D.
For a team that is struggling, the Bengals looked damn good. This team looked like they were sputtering out of control but there first trip to Monday Night Football in years gave them a new boost of confidence. What happened to the Broncos? This is a team that was a fumble away from being undefeated. Maybe the Broncos overlooked the Bengals or just maybe the Bengals are back on track. Whichever one it is, Denver didn’t cover and now has to get ready for the Falcons!
Indianapolis/Jacksonville Over 45.5 Indy is coming off a bye week and the Jags are coming off another last second victory. This is the second meeting between these two teams and last meeting was a good one. It was in Jacksonville which meant there were not as many points but with the game in Indy, the points will fly…The Jags know the only way to beat the Colts is to score points! They know that they can stop Manning every now and then but he is bound to click in a series or two and put points up quickly. The Jags have to put points up just as quickly to even think about staying in this game. With Indy coming off a bye week, they will be well rested and looking to put points on the board. This game should go over easily with points flying all over the board…Take the over!
Well, Jacksonville is for real. To come into Indy as 9.5-point underdogs and not only cover the spread but won the game outright. And as we all know, points have to be scored to beat Indy and the OVER was covered as well. In the beginning of the game, it didn’t look like it was going to happen but after halftime, the points started to happen and it was an easy OVER cover.
Atlanta +4 @ Kansas City Nobody knows what is wrong with the Chiefs this year. And unfortunately they face a team that somehow keeps winning games in the Falcons. Somehow the Falcons are 5-1 and really haven’t picked up the West Coast offense yet. That’s is what is so scary about the Falcons. If they ever pick up the offense, they may be unstoppable. Look for Michael Vick to be able to run and pass on the horrible Chief’s D. It is really scary to see a team with one win being favored in this game. We all know it’s tough to play in Arrowhead but look for the Falcons to come out tough and this will be a game that comes down to the wire……..take the Falcons
Atlanta has the number one defense in the league? Well, not after this week. 8 rushing TD’s by Holmes and Blaylock for the Chiefs! It was just total domination by the Chiefs and Vick continues to struggle with the West Coast offense. It was an ugly game from start to finish and now the Falcons travel to Mile High next week……….yikes!
New Orleans +3 @ Oakland With how bad the Raiders are, how can they be favored in this game? They were totally dominated at home last week against the Broncos…it wasn’t even close! Hell, they couldn’t even get the ball in the end zone! The Saints played well against the Vikings. Some stupid mistakes and turnovers really cost the Saints the game. The Saints may actually be clicking now even though they lost last week. Deuce is back and running the ball well and the Raiders just can’t stop anybody. Look for the Saints to dominate this game and send the Raiders to another loss!
We all know the Saints are an up and down team but there should have been no reason to be underdogs to the always down Oakland. Oakland was playing at home but come on, they are just really really bad! The Saints came into Oakland and came out with a hard fought victory. Hey, lets give Oakland one thing…they don’t quit and fight to the finish!
The Chiefs looked like the Chiefs of old last week thumping the Falcons 56-10. Holmes ran the ball well but injured his ankle early in the second half and didn’t play after that. Of course they didn’t need him but if he isn’t 100% against the Colts, the Chiefs are in trouble. Indy was beat by the Jags last week at home and lost their division lead. Not only did they lose, they lost at home off a bye week. Look for the Colts to come for blood this week. They will rebound from that loss in a big way by going to Arrowhead and pulling out a victory. The Chiefs have yet to play their type of game for two weeks in a row. The Colts will win this game!
We all knew there would be tons of points in this game but this is a little ridiculous. 80 combined points and over 1,000 combined yards! That is out of control. Manning set a career high in passing yards but it wasn’t enough. Indy was down all game but when you only rush for 33 yards against the Chiefs, you don’t deserve to win.
Seattle has looked horrible for 3 weeks in a row losing all their games. Carolina has looked horrible all year except for week 2. Seattle has been on the road the last two weeks and has looked homesick especially after getting beat by the Cardinals last week. Seattle is at home this week and their fans want a whooping especially after they lost to the Rams 3 weeks ago in OT. This is a good game for Seattle to get back on track and get back to looking like a Super Bowl team they looked like in the beginning of the year. Seattle will win this game by double digits!
A backdoor cover gave the Panthers the win against the spread but that was it. Seattle botched a field goal and the Panthers went down and scored a touchdown. Seattle struggled in this game as well and do not look like the team we all saw last year and the team we predicted to possibly go to the Super Bowl. Hey they won, but not in convincing fashion.
We all know these two teams are known for their defenses but this year it is different. Both these teams are putting points on the board no matter whom they are playing. What is even scarier is they are both winning as well. No one seems to be able to beat the Pats this year as they won again last week and the Steelers have only loss one and had a bye week last week. The Steelers know they need points to win this game. Hey, ask the Jets, 6 points doesn’t cut it! New England will do what it has done all season and this game will go over in points. Too tough of a game to pick a real winner but all we know is the points will come in chunks!
What a dominating performance by the Steelers. They knew they had to put points on the scoreboard to win and they put them up in a hurry. Before you could blink an eye, the Steelers were up 21-3. From there, they put it in cruise control and just dominated the Pats to end the streak. Points had to be scored in this game, which made it a good over cover.
Last week the Redskins had a much needed bye week and the Packers started a two game winning streak with their first win at home. For the Packers, it could be the win they needed to get their asses in gear. This isn’t a team that loses at home let alone 3 times at home. They went out last week and put a hurting on the Cowboys with a 41-20 victory. Brett Favre’s hand is hurting this week but what else is new for him. Unless his throwing arm falls off, Favre will play. Look for Green Bay to continue winning this week by putting another hurting on a NFC East team.
The Packers controlled this game from start to finish with a few bumps along the way. The Packers had the game in the bag until a Favre interception let the Redskins breath new life. The Redskins cut it to 6 down the stretch, but even with a banged up Favre and Green, they were able to put another TD up on the board and make this an easy cover.
Now we all know the Raiders can’t win a game but they can score points. They do not lack the points on the scoreboard, that’s for sure. The Chargers don’t lack points either but the only difference is they are winning games. When these two teams meet up, defenses usually disappear. This will be the same this year. The Raiders cannot stop anybody from scoring so the Chargers will score a handful of TD’s. The Raiders, even though only have 1 win, do score points and give it their all. Watch the scoreboard to light on fire for this game, as this game should be an easy over!
Hell, the Chargers almost coved the OVER by themselves. Usually when these two teams meet, lots of points are scored but by both teams. Mostly in this game, it was the Chargers. Two things can come from this game. One, the Chargers are for real and the league may want to watch out. Or two, the Raiders are just down right horrible.
Cleveland @ Baltimore -6 The Ravens will be looking for revenge from week one when they lost SU and ATS versus the Browns. Baltimore is a much better team at home while Cleveland has failed to cover the spread on the road this year. The Ravens defense will control the tempo and might outscore the Browns defense by themselves.
After the starting kickoff, the game didn’t look good for the Ravens. They couldn’t get their running game going and their defense was keeping them in the game. Well, the special teams made up for their mistake by downing a punt on the 1, which lead to a Browns’ 7-yard punt. The Ravens put the ball in the end zone and then added an INT for a TD to make it an easy cover.
Oakland +7 @ Carolina We know the Raiders have looked horrible but we think they just hit rock bottom last week and they will rise from the heap to give the Panthers all they can handle. The Panthers have not covered the spread at home this year and have only scored over 17 points once this year. The Raiders should be able to keep this within the number and possibly win it outright.
Two Super Bowl runner-ups in the last two super bowls playing each other would sound like a great game. Throwing records aside for this game, this ended up being a good one. The Raiders had the lead most of the game and then almost gave it away. The Raiders kicked a field goal with 9 seconds left not only to cover the spread but won the game straight up!
Philadelphia/Pittsburgh Over 44 What a great match up! Can the Steelers make it two straight weeks in a row beating an undefeated team? All we know is points should fly in this game. That is how the Eagles run this year. They are doing just enough to beat teams. If a team scores lots of points such as the Browns, the Eagles’ offense goes nuts but if they play a team such as the Ravens where offense isn’t a big deal, the offense just does enough for the defense to control them. This week, the Eagles need to realize points will need to be scored to win. They saw what happened to the Pats last week. Look for points to be scored in this game. The score could resemble the Pats/Steelers score last week. Who will win? Just sit and watch!
We all thought the points should have flown in this game. Well, Pittsburgh held up their end of the bargain. What happened to the highflying Eagles? Is Pittsburgh’s defense that tough? Two weeks in a row the Steelers have knocked off an undefeated team. Unfortunately, this week, we all wanted to see points flying all around not a massacre by the Steelers.
Seattle/San Francisco Over 39.5 In the beginning weeks of the season, the Seahawks beat the Niners 34-0. Since then, the Niners have learned a little offense but the Seahawks have diminished. The Seahawks defense isn’t what it was and teams are scoring on them. The Niners should be able to put up some points this time. The Niners defense still isn’t very good so you know they will give up points. What does that mean when two defenses give up points? That would be an easy OVER.
Points, points, points! Seattle did the OVER on their own. When these two teams meet, points seem to pile up. This was a very low OVER and the reason was because no one knows what S.F. team was going to show up. A team that could put up 30 or the team that has trouble scoring 14. Well this week, S.F. put up the points, which made Seattle score as well. This was an easy OVER
Oakland/Carolina OVER 41.5 Besides last week, the Raiders usually put tons of points on the board but lose the game. Last week, they still lost but only scored 2 TD’s. This is a tail of two really bad teams playing each other. Neither team has a good defense. On paper, they have good defenses but when they play they suck. Both offenses will throw the ball around the field and put up some touchdowns. Both these teams will put up points. The Raiders are usually good for somewhere in the 20’s. Carolina doesn’t want to lose to the Raiders so the more points the better. This should be an easy over!
Doesn’t matter who the Raiders play, whether they win or lose, you know they are going to score points and give up points as well. Carolina on the other hand struggles scoring. But it doesn’t matter if you average 3 points a game, when you play the Raiders, you will score points. It took awhile in this game but the over was made.
Philadelphia –6.5 @ Dallas Both these teams were spanked last week. This is nothing new for Dallas this year but it was the first loss for the Eagles. They rushed for a miserable 23 yards last week. McNabb and Owens had words on the sidelines and that’s what happens when you lose. Sounds like they have kissed and made up and that’s bad news for the Cowboys. Parcels and the Cowboys have been in the news all week about their play this year. Two things will happen for the Cowboys this week: One; they will play their asses off or two; they will come out flat and get thumped on Monday night. Look for thing two to happen this week as the Eagles get back on the winning track.
Talk about coming back after a loss. The Eagles went into Big D and put on a show in the first half. They scored more points in the first half then they had scored in a game all year! They had the ball 4 times in the second quarter and scored a touchdown each time. Dallas is in some serious trouble on defense. The Tuna doesn’t have much on the defensive side of the ball this year and that is just one of many reasons this is nowhere near the same team as last year.
Tampa Bay/Atlanta OVER 40.5 A few weeks ago, you never would have bet Tampa Bay with an OVER. First off, the Bucs were struggling putting more than 2 touchdowns on the board. Second off, the Falcons defense was out of control. Well a few weeks ago, the Chiefs torched the Falcons defense for 56 points and then last week the Bucs put up 34. The Falcons are coming off a bye week and are at home. Playing on turf makes everyone just a little faster, which usually means more points. The Bucs now have confidence in their offense, which could mean this could be an easy over. Look for points to fly in Atlanta.
Everyone thought points would be flowing in this game. And at first it looked like points were going to happen. Atlanta was moving down the field with ease and going to put up points. And if Atlanta put up points, Tampa Bay had to throw the ball, which is probably their strong point right now with the confidence of Brian Griese. Both these teams are very unpredictable when it comes to points. Atlanta has won by scoring in the 30’s and also won by scoring 9 points. The unpredictability of these two teams leads to the loss of this over bet.
Houston/Indianapolis OVER 53.5 This is a low total for the Colts. But a low total for the Colts is still a high total for everyone else. The Colts have the number one offense and the last ranked defense, which means lots of combined points. The Texans are coming off a bye week and are ready for the Colts. The Texans are a surprise team this year with a 4-4 record. The Texans are putting up points as well averaging over 20 points a game. This game will be a shootout in Indy just like every game the Colts play in.
We all knew that Indy had that offensive punch to put tons of points on the board. But when did they decide to play defense? Indy looked unstoppable this past week with Manning throwing another 5 TD passes giving him 31 on the year so far. Houston looked out of sync the whole game. Coming off a bye week this isn’t allowed to happen. Thank goodness the Indy offense was unstoppable or this would have been a closer over cover. Doesn’t matter though as the OVER was covered.
Pittsburgh/Cleveland OVER 41.5 Pittsburgh has a great defense but it is susceptible to giving up points. The good thing for them is they can score points easily whether it is through the air or on the ground. Cleveland proved last week they can stop the run but have trouble with the pass. The good thing about Cleveland is they can put up points with anyone…remember the Eagles game? This should be a shootout this week for these two teams. When the Browns and the Steelers meet, throw out all records, trends, rankings, etc. These two teams play each other very tough and usually it’s a game of points instead of defense.
Where has the Cleveland offense gone the last few weeks? We all know the Ravens and the Steelers have great defenses but the Browns know how to move the ball. Hell, they put up 31 against the Eagles! The last two weeks the Browns offense has disappeared and unfortunately for them, they can’t rely on their defense to win games. Pittsburgh on the other hand is usually good for scoring somewhere in the 20’s. The problem with Pittsburgh and OVERs is they get ahead and just control the ball. Great to win games but bad for OVERS.
Buffalo/New England OVER 37.5 Over the past few years, this has been an UNDER game. Then this year came and probably 95% of the bettors bet the UNDER and lost it almost in the first half. New England is no longer known for its defense. They are an offensive team! Hell, they put up 40 points against the Rams last week. Buffalo’s offense is starting to click with McGhee running the ball now. This game could possibly go OVER in the first half. This will be a high scoring game. Most of the points will probably be scored by the Pats.
All we needed to cover this spread was for the Buffalo offense to move down the field and either score a touchdown or at least kick a field goal. Is that too much to ask? All the offense could do was…well nothing. The only score they had was on a punt return! Come on now, is it that hard to score a touchdown or at least kick a field goal?
New England -3 @ Kansas City The Patriots offense will do whatever it wants against the weak Chief’s defense. Holmes is out and as displayed last week the Chiefs can move the ball but they could not put it into the end zone against a suspect Saint defense. New England will comfortably win this game because they will keep Kansas City out of the endzone and Brady will find his receivers all night in the endzone.
Green Bay/Houston Over 49 This game should go flying over the total similar to the Colt/Texan’s game last weekend. Green Bay will get up early and the Texans will back door cover the total for us. Carr has to come out of his slump this weekend but it will only help the over because Ahmad Green will control the tempo of the game. Look for a 38-24 score this weekend.
Atlanta -2.5 @ New York Giants The Falcons will benefit from Manning making his first start. The Giants will play it conservative on offense but that is not the real problem for them this weekend. Their defensive line is banged up and Vick will run wild against them this weekend. The Falcons will beat the Giants because they are ready to win this year and the Giants are now playing for next year.
Green Bay -3 @ Houston The Pack is back and Favre is talking Super Bowl again. This is not good news for the Texans who just got spanked last week by the Colts. Green Bay is not as explosive as the Colts but their defense is healthy and much stronger than the Colts defense. Green Bay will beat up on Houston almost as bad as Indy did last week.
Indianapolis -7 @ Chicago Look for the Colts offense to score too many points for the dysfunctional Bears offense to stay within 10 points. No one has been able to slow down Manning and Company and even though the Bears have a good defense, they cannot match up with the Colts offense. Time for one rookie quarterback to lose his first game as Indianapolis throttles the Bears.
Oakland/Denver OVER 45.5 When these two teams meet, it usually means points. Points are scored by both teams or just by one team but they usually cover. Earlier this year, the Broncos put a hurting on the Oakland in Oakland. This week, the Raiders travel to Denver. The Raiders know they need points in this game because they know the Broncos have found a running game and are putting tons of points on the board. There will be no defense in this game by either team and the OVER will cover easily.
Even in the snow, these two teams can score points. For about a quarter and a half, this looked like it was going to be a for sure under. Then in about a minute span, 14 points were put on the board. After Kerry Collins threw that interception in the end zone in the 4th quarter, the over didn’t look good. But the Oakland defense stopped the Broncos and then somehow, the Oakland offense showed up and put the game OVER.
Philadelphia –7 @ New York Giants Eli Manning for the most part last week, looked halfway decent. He wasn’t able to pull off a victory against the Falcons but he looked pretty good in his first career start. Start #2 pits Manning versus the Eagles. If you thought the Falcons blitzed the young QB last week, this week the Eagles will blitz twice as much. Manning will struggle this week against the Eagles defense. The Eagles offense will move the ball around easily against the banged up Giants. Look for the Eagles to send Eli Manning to his second straight defeat.
An easy victory for the Eagles this week as they clinched the NFC East division. The Giants didn’t look too bad to start the game but just couldn’t get anything going. They were unable to turn Eagle turnovers into Giant’s points. The Eagles dominated Manning and the Giants in the second half out scoring them 20 to 0 to make it an easy cover.
New Orleans/ Atlanta OVER 46 Usually with Atlanta, you don’t know if the OVER is a good play. You don’t know if they are going to score 30 points or 14. This week though, they play the Saints. The Saints have no idea what defense is. Michael Vick should be able to pick apart the Saints with his arm and his legs. The scary thing about the Saints is they are a solid offense. The Saints will score points and lots of them; the only problem is their defense gives up more. Look for this game to go OVER in a big way.
This should have been an easy over. It doesn’t matter who you are, you will put points up against the Saints. The Falcons were up 14-0 early in the second quarter and had to come from behind to beat the hapless Saints. The OVER was missed by one point but opportunities were lost throughout the entire game for both teams. This should have been an easy over but it wasn’t!
San Diego/ Kansas City OVER 51.5 Well, we all know the Chiefs can score points. We also know they like to give up just as many points. The Chargers are the surprise of the year. They are scoring points on everyone and winning! Drew Brees is on fire right now and Tomlinson is one of the best backs in the league. You know the Chargers are going to score points against the Chiefs defense and you know the Chiefs can score on anybody, they just can’t win. This will be a slugfest with lots of points scored on both sides. Yet another easy OVER.
Of course this was an easy OVER. It was the Chiefs! The Chiefs are probably the best 3-8 team in the league. You know they will put up points galore but unfortunately for them, they give up more points. This isn’t good for wins and losses but when it comes to OVER’s and UNDER’s, the Chiefs are usually a good OVER. Another loss for the Chiefs but another OVER cover.
Indianapolis/Detroit OVER 54 We all know the Colts offense is out of control. They can put points up on anybody. Nobody is going to stop Peyton Manning and James is running like the James of old. They could possible average 40 points a game for the rest of the year. Their defense is capable of stopping teams but not shutting them down so you know they will give up points. This week, they are playing on Turkey day in a dome. The teams will be fired up to play on Turkey day and points will fly. It’s possible Peyton Manning will have 40 TD passes by the end of Turkey day. Take the OVER
Well, we were right when we said the Colts would score 40 and Manning would have 40 TD passes by the end of this game. Unfortunately, we thought the Lions would show up and put up a few points themselves. How hard is it to score a TD in this league? The Colts have one of the worst defenses in the league and you can’t put up a measly touchdown? This should have been an easy turkey day over but instead it turned into Manning’s 2.5 quarters of domination.
KC/OAK Over 49 Collins now has a grasp on the offense as the Raiders have played respectful against two good defenses (SD and Denver) and now get to sink their teeth into the weak KC defense. Trent Green will play and have a field day against the Raider defense, if not, then Blaylock will run for 200 yards. We see both teams in the 30’s and the total of 48 being reached by the end of the 3rd quarter.
We did not get the over as early as we predicted but it was never in doubt. Collins really has a grasp on the offense and you knew KC was going to score some points. This was a tough game for Oakland to lose but an easy over cover for us.
Denver/San Diego OVER 47.5 The Chargers have too many weapons not to score over 24 points a game. That was not a typo, yes the Chargers are that good and they will revenge their earlier loss to the Broncos this weekend. If they don’t revenge the loss it will not be from lack of offense because they will hang some points up against Denver. The Broncos will not go down without a fight and will be motivated after their loss to Oakland. Look for points from both teams this weekend.
The weather did not help but more importantly the defenses made the stops and got enough turnovers in or near the red zone to keep the points off the scoreboard. We really liked the game even in the bad weather, witness the last Denver game, but the offenses could not finish the drives with touchdowns
Tennessee/Indianapolis Over 55 No one is going to slow the Colts down as Manning might throw for 55 plus touchdowns before the regular season ends. The Titans let the Texans score 31 points and we think Indianapolis will exceed that amount this weekend. The Titans have too much pride to lay down so they will also put up points in their attempt to stay with the Colts.
The machine continues to roll and the Titans threw everything at the Colts in an attempt to keep up. Manning is on fire and to tell you the truth the defense did not look too bad. As long as Manning stays the course, the Colts will be tough to beat.
New England -7.5 @ Cleveland The Patriots will continue their stretch run and shut down the anemic Browns offense. Things do not look good with the resignation of Davis in Cleveland, not a great time to turn things around with the defending champs coming to town. Look for the Patriot defense to keep the Browns under 14 points and the Patriots to do enough on offense to cover the spread.
This line moved upped to 13 points before kickoff but it does not matter when you bet NE because they completely shut down the low ranking Brown offense. NE will get the top spot if Pitt takes a fall because we do not see them losing again in the regular season.
Pittsburgh -3 @ Jacksonville The Steelers have done just enough to win lately and Big Ben has looked normal the past two weeks. Look for the Steelers to play at a higher level this weekend just because the competition is better and they are due to snap out of their streak. They have too much at stake and will rise to the occasion this weekend.
The Steelers keep doing enough to win but have had trouble covering lately. It is a credit to their coach for the turn around but the offense is not as strong without Burress to stretch the field and have had trouble covering the games lately.
Philadelphia -9 @ Washington Even though Washington won last week, that won’t change a thing when the Eagles come to town. The Eagles just dominated the Packers last week and it could have been worse. Now remember, the Redskins beat the Giants which isn’t too hard. The Eagles should dominate this game on both sides of the ball. Look for McNabb to continue his hot streak and look for no one in the Redskins secondary to stop Owens. This should be an easy cover.
The opening kickoff set this game off on the wrong foot for the Eagles. The Redskins scored in 30 seconds and the Eagles knew they were in for a fight. This wasn’t the same Redskins team they had played earlier. Every time the Eagles looked like they were going to control the game, the Redskins came back and made it a game. Not only did the Eagles not cover the spread, they almost loss the game straight up.
St. Louis/ Carolina OVER 44 We all know the “greatest show on turf” only put up 16 points last week but that doesn’t mean anything. Carolina is one of the hottest teams in football right now and the Rams know this is a battle. Carolina is putting up points in a hurry and the Rams know if they want to win, 16 points won’t cut it this week. This game should go flying over.
What ever happened to the greatest show on turf? We all know they weren’t playing in St. Louis but still, it is the so called high powered Rams offense. The Rams are not the team they used to be. They are getting up there in age. Come on, last week they only scored 16 against the 49ers! This team is heading in the wrong direction with 3 weeks left to go. If they can’t score points, they won’t win games...they aren’t the Ravens! Not even close in this OVER.
Kansas City/ Tennessee OVER 52 This will be a game of no defenses. Tennessee gave up 51 points last week to the Colts while the Chiefs gave up 27 to the Raiders and that was considered a good job. The scary part is both these teams have offenses. When you mix high-powered offenses with no defenses, it usually comes out to be a high scoring game. This game will not come down to field goals. This game will be in the 30's for both teams if not more. Easy over.
Talk about points put up on a scoreboard. It was 21-14 at halftime so the Over looked really good. Little did we know that K.C. would try and to cover the over by themselves. This is the Chiefs of last year. This is a team that is offensive minded and knows they have all the weapons to outscore anybody in the league. When the Chiefs play like they did on Monday night, they are pretty close to unstoppable. Unfortunately for them, this team hasn’t showed up too many times this year.
Indianapolis/ Houston OVER 57 When you think of Indy this year, you think of points. Come on, this team throws up 40-50 points a game without blinking an eye. So you know the Colts offense is going to show up no matter what. It’s all about their defense this year. Are they going to show up? Some games they come out and give up just 2 touchdowns. Other times they come out and give up 30 points. The good thing about the Colts and overs is no matter what, you know it’s going to be a good chance it will go over. If Indy scores 40, you know they are bound to give up at least 21. Another over.
The high powered Colts offense hit a snag when they traveled to Houston this week. The first quarter, it looked like another 40 point effort with 2 easy scores. But after that, the Colts weren’t clicking like they had been. Instead of touchdowns, they were settling for field goals. The Houston defense did their job and the offense controlled the ball and kept the game close. Unfortunately, we all wanted points on the board and we didn’t see it.
New York Giants @ Baltimore -9 Do the Giants have a QB? Your starter is Eli Manning who hasn’t proved anything. On the bench you have Kurt Warner but he is thinking about retirement rather than sitting on the bench. And then behind Warner, you have the Bachelor. Baltimore should run all over this Giants team. The Giants are in a tailspin right now and they are nowhere near correcting it. Too many mistakes, injuries, uncertainties with the Giants will lead to an easy victory for the Ravens. Hey, the Ravens are pissed they lost last week so you know they will take out their frustrations on the Giants.
